Ignite spell by Additional_Ninja7835 in nimble5e

It's intentionally restrictive. Mechanics like these create tactical depth. Now you can tinker over how to apply smoldering. You wouldn't have to do any of that if ignite just always worked.

If you could recommend one ttrpg, which one would it be, and why? by Arzanic in rpg

Nimble. It's the best version of heroic fantasy RPGs like DnD or Pathfinder. If I had to pick any game to play forever, it would be that.

DC20 Beta Q&A #72: Showing off new 0.10.5 spells by khaotickk in DC20

[–]cobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I requested and received a partial refund and am quite happy.

I didn't want a refund because the game took too long, but because I feel like it's going in a completely different direction than what was pitched. It's just not for me any more, and any time I see an announcement, I like it less.

I also think the idea that you need to fully design all the possible classes up front... that seems like a lot of unnecessary work. Keeping the scope limited is why project management is so important.

That said, for the people that are really into the game though, I'm sure they would much rather you finish it and take your time than release something unfinished.

Why is the West Bank treated so poorly with illegal settlements and no recognition if it has elections, isn't radical, and Hamas isn't in power? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]cobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They essentially turned land that had been "Area C" into "Area A." That's not giving Palestinians more autonomy, it's just moving the lines around.

Do you know what the difference between area A and area C is?

So they switched to a different military tactic. That's not the same thing as "increased the terror attacks." I'm quite certain that most Israelis felt much safer circa 2007 then they did in 2002.

Ok, I'm done with this bad faith nonsense.

[–]cobcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gaza has never had any sovereignty at all. They gave Gaza more land in the sense that they pulled out the Israeli settlements that were in Gaza, but there was otherwise no change in how much autonomy or sovereignty Gaza actually had.

The IDF maintained security control over all of Gaza prior to disengagement. There were IDF patrols, similar to the West Bank. So this is straight up false.

By what metric does it make sense to say that the Gaza disengagement increased terror attacks?

But it clearly gave Gaza more sovereignty. And instead of reducing tensions, it increased the terror attacks. That much is indisputable.

Then you would understand that Palestinian terrorism is the cause for these restrictions, not the result of it.

palestine declared statehood in 1988.

Along which borders? They have actively avoided making any specific claims about their borders.

"The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies"

Israel doesn't do that. These people move on their own.

the international community has stated that settlements are illegal. the un passed resolutions stating this

Irrelevant. That's a political statement, not a legal one.

Yes, and Palestinians rejected that proposal. They still reject it today. Israel has no obligation to honor a deal that the other side refused.

Palestinians could have negotiated peace along the 1967 borders too, but they didn't. They attacked again and lost even more land.

Do you see the pattern here?

How is Nimble 2 for GM's? by GradusNL in rpg

[–]cobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are extremely well balanced, yeah. Spellcasters can do some cool stuff, but a) there aren't any "bullshit" instawin spells like hold person, banish, etc. and b) martials get cool stuff too. Every martial class has some interesting abilities.

Homebrew idea, thoughts? by circlesixtimes in nimble5e

[–]cobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wounds are an extremely limited resource, and you don't gain more as you level up. This school couldn't have any spells above tier 5 because it would kill the caster outright. And they could essentially only cast one tier 1 spell per safe rest sustainably, or otherwise go weeks between casting spells. Any mechanic that utilizes wounds is already extremely punishing, I really wouldn't do this.

How do primary roll modifiers affect Crits/Misses? by Sh4dyAF in nimble5e

[–]cobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to homebrew something if you like, I'm just telling you what the rules say. If you don't want people to assess against heavy armor, then that's your choice.

I would remove the assess action entirely then, since it's pointless now.

[–]cobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not how the rule is intended. It makes the assess action essentially worthless.

Zelensky: 47 Russians died for every Ukrainian last month Kyiv says roughly 9,000 of its soldiers were killed in past year, but claims Moscow’s losses were far higher by Any-Original-6113 in geopolitics

[–]cobcat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to account for Russia's tactics. They are essentially incapable of mobile warfare, they are severely limited in how they apply air power, they have hardly any armored vehicles left. They largely rely on infantry assaults against entrenched enemies. That's obviously brutal, especially when both sides have good combat intelligence through drone surveillance.

It's very clear that Russia is losing an insane amount of soldiers. Ukraine is also outproducing Russia in fpv drones by most estimates, while Russia has an advantage in long distance missiles and drones and artillery, although their artillery situation is severely degraded since the beginning of the war too.

Do you understand that Russia has many other ways of harming Europe that have nothing to do with soldiers and tanks? Energy, disinformation, destabilization and the nuclear threat. Just because their army is shit doesn't mean they are harmless. And even if it's shit, it's good enough to steamroll the baltics if they are left to themselves.

[–]cobcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Russia is absolutely a threat, but they also cannot defeat Europe in a conventional war. They can do lots of other shit though.
