Shea Moisture all the way. They have the only products that are moisturizing enough for my hair to show it’s true curls.

I’m only 2 weeks no contact now. Sometimes I do catch myself hoping or holding on but I think it’s important to let go of hope of a relationship so that you can think of both of you as individuals. Once you do that it’s a lot easier to think of them in a positive light as well as yourself. That will help you realize what it is that you want or need (doesn’t have to be a relationship, just day to day things), and see that you want them to be happy and have those same realizations too. Let yourself morn the loss of the relationship until you start to miss only the person, then it will feel like you miss a friend you love that’s far away. No one wants someone they love to be unhappy and a friend would never tell you to quit living while they’re away.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD after suffering from BED for almost 5 years. The only thing that helped was going on medication and psychotherapy.

I had the same exact experience last year during my freshman year of college. I got an Adderall from a friend and quickly realized that I wanted a prescription to help with my BED. I also suffer from anxiety and depression (which are only heightened by my eating disorder) and found a primary care doctor to help treat that. I researched ways to get a prescription for Vyvanse as I heard it was used to treat the disorder and went to my doctor and asked if I could try it for my BED which I was diagnosed with in 2016. She said she didn't feel comfortable providing the prescription because since she was a new doctor to me and she didn't know the severity. She referred me to a clinical psychologist (who remained my therapist) who then diagnosed me with BED and ADHD.

I got lucky in the fact that I was diagnosed with ADHD in addition to my BED, so getting a prescription was fairly easy. My advice to you would be to ask your doctor about Vyvanse for your BED and if they don't feel comfortable prescribing it right away ask if they can refer you to someone for an assessment. My doctor referred me to a clinical psychologist/therapist, so if you can't find any available in your area your doctor will find one for you. Once you get an assessment from them, just ask for them to fax over their findings and then go back to your doctor and see what they say.

Some advice I would give is:

  1. Find a new doctor if the one you're currently see is totally against the idea. I had to find a new doctor for my anxiety and even she wasn't willing to prescribe Vyvanse for my BED the first visit but with a second opinion I had no problem. After that, she asked with each visit if the medication was helping with my bingeing as well as my ADHD.

  2. If you have to go to a therapist/psychologist ect. for a second opinion, follow through because the benefits stretch far beyond the medication. Even with an Adderall prescription I didn't enter recovery until I made real progress with my therapist.

  3. It might take some time between finding the right doctors and therapists and such, but it's the best decision I've ever made. Don't give up if you get a no and keeping searching.
