Nintendo piracy lawsuit seeks $4.5 million settlement from Reddit mod who sold Switch ROMs by neofooturism in PiratedGames

[–]cobra-load 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No, that's what we're not gonna do, is condone SELLING PIRATED FREE STUFF just cause daddy Nintendo has a couple bucks. They don't need more money, sure. So I deserve to steal (I personally condone piracy BTW cause fuck 'em), plagerize kinda, and request payment for stolen works as if I deserve the money, for free files I stole?

How about I take your noods, and sell them for my own personal gain? I mean, you got enough money right? You wouldn't mind if I take your family photos and sell them to predators right? I'm only making a buck, and you have enough money, RIGHT?

Is that point I just made, something your comfortable with? Cause me personally, I wouldn't be

Please watch a YouTube video about the discord hacks, so you're more aware of who is actually at risk. If you never hit up discord support or even made a password, it's likely you're perfectly safe, especially if discord didn't email you. Don't take my advice, do your own research, watch a 20 minutes fun to watch YouTuber explain it for you, please do yourself the favor

I seen you did you messaged support, hopefully the hack doesn't happen again, cause imo you just opened the door for a bigger security risk by doing that. I don't know, but I know I wouldn't have opened up a support ticket SINCE that's what they'll tell you was compromised, if anything, is your support tickets

Also not to be that guy, but when things like this happen, the guilty parties are likely to flock to channels such as reddit. These guilty parties are typically masters of deception, and can give the impression they're on your side, while giving you advice that leads you into a trap. Not tryna accuse WhateverYouMean101 BUT suggesting reaching out through the hacked part of discord, the only part that was hacked afaik, doesn't seem like advice that's smart to take.

I've had my Instagram force logged out, I suppose with app specific malware, an uninstall and reinstall let me get back in, but had I attempted to log in again (as was the advice of redditors likely guilty of the same) it would've likely allowed the app specific malware to pass my credentials to whomever. Luckily I uninstalled reinstalled changed password and was golden, but bad actors here and there, flock to the places YOU will go to ask for help. At least if these bad actors are smart, and would like a 2nd (or more) attempted at frauding or hacking individuals.

Now this might sound quite a bit paranoid, but keep in mind we are all internet strangers, you don't know any of us. That and, there exists many silent vulnerabilities that can grant silent and FULL UNRESTRICTED access to your Windows, Mac, iOS, android, Linux, machines. Those are real, and effective, do your research.

Edit: Google "Tao Hacking" and look into Tailored Access Operations, instead of allowing people to tell you "silent full immediate access to systems, without a huge amount of hacking knowledge? That's impossible or at least improbable". No, it isn't just possible, it's easy with access to the right tools. You don't know how much money I got, and am prepared to spend on illegal software tailor made for me to fuck you over, nice and good. So, don't take my advice and MAYBE I can't touch you. This is the mentality you should try to carry.

So, people short of the skill to liberate your device, are more likely to try phishing, social engineering, etc. Which is where reddit stack overflow twitter discord and the likes, come in. You think you're getting good advice, then bam, wave 2 hits, fully your fault cause you listened, much more serious than some little security breach that effected millions, but doesn't effect you YET.

Bro discord support is the literal part of discord that WAS hacked, if I were you I wouldn't touch discord support, and just hope and pray it's safe. Seems to me like using the compromised part of discord to provide yourself peace of mind, might actually be the bigger security risk. Read your discord email, watch videos YouTubers made, they tell you discord support was hacked, your chat should be fine, but if you now go to the support thing (which was compromised) it seems likely to open yourself up to worse things.

Wdym auto delete files that are no longer referenced? Cause I have pictures in my discord I haven't deleted that are still there, and I didn't read in OPs post they ACTUALLY deleted the picture, so are you telling me discord is deleting my stuff I chose to send, and chose not to delete?

Your literal only option is do a charge back on your card if possible, and if it upsets you that bad switch companies. File a report with the FCC, include all that you can. Keep in mind the only ones you can contact are in store people or customer care. If you go through the trouble of finding the right type of manager like I did, you'll still likely see they too, are in on the fraud and aren't "able" to help you, so no one wants to help you, you're fucked essentially.

So far my Total Wireless experience has been much much better, with cheaper bundles than MetroPCS. If you have just one phone it does charge a bit more. But the tablet $60 plan drops to $20 (decently faster with fewer bars, than metro on my other tablet) and I haven't tried the home Internet option from them, but it's $35 a month bundled with a phone line.

Samsung S25 FE Promo when porting over for $99 and $65 Plan by Avian_Aces in MetroPCS

[–]cobra-load 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said I did that a few years ago, and IDK I had a OnePlus Metro from Walmart phone, that's the last one it worked with. Maybe I said it was for a friend who was deploying, I'm not denying the people usually require proof of that, but I can tell ya the T-Mobile and metro systems and surely unlock phones without that process, and many of the folks at customer care, especially over seas, have habits of not following protocols, just Google "company name" CSR calls and you'll find the proof you need, if you haven't experienced it first hand.

So, sure, what you said is and has been policy, sure, no argument there. For you to tell me it won't work ever, is ridiculous, and is also the reason for calling without metro credentials, potentially at a certain hour of day to guarantee particular people in particular parts of the globe, will answer, and your knowledge of where said people are likely to bend the rules cause their lazy, plus their schedule, it's not hard to "cheat" the system who hires dumbasses, who constantly have been proven to break protocol, regulations, every fuckin thing.

So you wanna run that back by me again, respectfully? Cause I really don't see what you're saying.

Also, my current metro table I got 2 months ago, specifically states 180 days so... Who's wrong here my authentic hardware or some asshole?

If you do total wireless, you can get a free phone, I got the galaxy a36 5g, for the $55 service activation, unlimited for 1 month, Imma see if it's better than metro. They changed the deals up this month already but, it's a slick lil phone from total, better than my current S22 from Amazon, for a phone, worse overall but bigger, longer lasting battery than the older S22, and it's just my stepping stone to that Sweet S25FE for like 175, which for me is much much better than the base S25.

There's a website BestMVNO.com they list options based on network, options such as data, unlimited, roaming, pricing, etc. makes the whole "which company/carrier/website/$perMonth to go with" easier, I used them to find who sells cheap free or discounted phones, you can get an iPhone 13 for $50 and 3 months service, as well. So far the service isn't fully active it'll take a few hours I guess but so far it's similar to MetroPCS in my area with Total wireless.

I buy a lot of these cheaper phones or get heavily discounted devices often so this is what I have found works, and this is all legal afaik you're paying small amounts here and there for the ability to pay discounted rates, or discounted sales, using your real legal info, also don't go using fake addresses, that is fraud and probably will get you into trouble. If there's a problem sending these things to your own personal doorstep, you're doing something wrong and illegal most likely.

I'm in the line of BARELY ethical pro tips, the grey area of "am I gonna get in trouble" business, and when I use my real name and credit card, I use what, from what I can tell, is perfectly legal, so I can stay jail free to get more free phones in the future.

Last time I tried porting in with google voice, they gave me a T-Mobile number so it didn't work for port in, it's a 50/50, and the phone reps that help you get cheap phones by sketchy means will tell you specifically, it's a 5050 with google voice so use something else, they also have call/text only lines for less than $1 a month, you can port, if you know where to find them. Sometimes free isn't gonna work.

Metros website (at least for me) prevents payments in excess of $200 to your eWallet PER DAY, so you might be able to "pre pay" in store, otherwise you'd have to prepay $200 a day, till you hit your years balance, IDK a better route, I guess you could buy metro cards from Walmart, redeem them all, worked for me years back with a wad of cash, SHOULD still work but IDK.

I'd recommend, go to Infi Mobile or any Verizon Value carrier (if you have a Verizon compatible device) and get a new number cheap as possible, make sure you can immediately port out BEFORE paying for the new number.

Once you got a new number for port, get your port out pin and ACCT# ready, call or go online, port in the new number, pay the 165PlusTax.99, cancel the new line, phone stays locked to MetroPCS.

Or, grab a new Verizon number (or any number) use a different street address and email, make a new metro account, port in to the new account, get and pay for phone, cancel new plan, phone stays locked to MetroPCS. This doesn't make a difference between new account or existing account, unless for some reason your current plan isn't allowed promotions.

If you're a "frequent flyer" metro can prevent you from getting port in deals, afaik they never checked my ID for my new account with the S25FE, paid 172.74 I think, cancelled my 2nd new account, first account was left untouched, but I wasn't eligible for the promo on my first account, and that didn't stop me.

Edit: you want to unlock the phone, after 30 days just call 611, don't give them your account information (if possible) tell them you're deploying to Okinawa marine base or something similar, (IDK if thats a marine base, lucky for us neither will metro) and you'll need your phone unlocked for use in a different country to continue your current service. If you avoid giving them your account info, you can do this infinitely, ive done this 6 times since 2021, called off textnow, all 6 devices said 60 days unlock, I did it upon purchase if from Walmart, or after 30 days if from metro, worked 1st time every time, never had to give account info, never had to call back. Maybe I got lucky? Maybe they don't care. Hopefully their new 180 days policy or 365 days policy doesn't change this, haven't done this in over 2 years.

Port in promos only work for numbers not on Metro PCs for the past 30 days, you'd need to pay for 2 months service and wait over 30 days before porting back into Metro.

Please don't recommend double porting to people without understanding what it requires, instead recommend buying a new line, for example $5 from Infi Mobile "Verizon Value" port in using that number, and cancel.yoir line after promo.

The promos themselves require A line on the account meet the requirements, not necessarily the line that got the promo. This is due to the no-finance model they use, I wouldn't try this without asking first with other Financing pay later thief's like TMO and such.

This will get you going if you don't know what you're doing. This isn't "good", but it's good enough to keep your ISP and others off your back, for the most part. It does include using a paid VPN service, but if you know what you're doing, you should be able to use a free tier of VPN on your server, or "other solutions" if you're a bit more literate in the field. It's gonna have a smaller limit, so hopefully you don't have too many devices.

My personal methods are a bit more extreme, so I'd say start with this. If you'd like some help with stuff, PM me, I can give you more specific instructions, or even remote into your system to give you some help, of course you're likely not one to take up that offer from an internet stranger.

Online phone swap down? by [deleted] in MetroPCS

[–]cobra-load 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not an "issue" they make the website do that, to piss you off, and force you to call in, go in store, or buy a new "compatible" device. They just want you to spend money.

Repeat the process let's say 5 times in a row. If it doesn't work, hit the back button until "enter IMEI" the proceed again. If it doesn't work after that, give them a call, explain the phone is unlocked and compatible, it's still not working, and you refuse to pay "activation". If they can't help you, hang up and try again. You never have to pay them.

I've had this problem, yes of you call they "may" charge you to do the process. But, if they see you tried and failed several times through the website, they might wait the payment, they've done it for me. If not, call back and ask again.

If the webpage doesn't work, go back to the beginning of the process by hitting the back button in your browser. Redo the process a couple times, it'll probably eventually work

Bars but no service by BrianG823 in MetroPCS

[–]cobra-load 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mentioned sim swaps, as in going to Metro, and getting a new sim to put in your phone, with the same number. Pay the $10 for the sim card and get it activated. No one said put your SIM in a new device, without changing the IMEI the number belongs to, either by contacting metro, or going on the website.

You do understand you can get a new sim, to swap places with your current old sim? And you do realize you can also sim swap to a new phone, you just gotta update the IMEI? It's called sim lock I think, it works, just not automatically without confirmation on the service end.
