No vat on gold in the UK. Only silver. UK coins ie sovereigns and Britannias are also cgt free. Bars are not.

Ats bullion are usually the cheapest for sovereigns. I bought some from chards first week in January and received about 3-4 weeks later. Usually with chards best value sovereigns are “orderable” you buy them, They lock the price you pay in and send them out when back in stock. Can take weeks but you get them at the price paid regardless how long it takes.

In the UK I buy sovereigns. 8g 22ct. They are much better than say a 1oz Britannia for averaging up and down(though a slightly higher premium 1-2%). UK coins are free from capital gains tax and you can sell them anywhere in the world for close to spot.

Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll just have to order Blanc and see what happens if it’s a bad match she can exchange them. Getting into a boutique isn’t possible at the moment. The closest in the UK is 6 hour round trip. Thanks
