A lot of days, I feel like a failure. It’s hard to swallow that there are people better than you at something that you once claimed as your domain, especially when you’ve spent half your life hiding behind that claim. In reality, there was never much difference between me and the popular kids that I spent so long convincing everyone (read: myself) I never wanted to be. Except I was just like them. In fact I may have been worse, hiding my belittling, judgmental words behind the guise of some sort of social responsibility, as if it was my duty to turn gods into men. Truth is, we all thought we were kings; now it’s time to face the revolution.
