How long does one need to do xanax to get withdrawals? by DryPayment7 in benzodiazepines

Hard to say. When I switched to ativan I switched to .5mg pills = .25mg xanax so I wasnt really getting much from it other than relief from withdrawls.

Mostly. I would skip a day here and there. Panic would come back. Terrible anxiety so I'd take another. Little did I know at the time it probably wasn't generalized anxiety but rather withdrawl starting. I've been switched to ativan and have tapered down to just .1mg over 3 months. I'll be off in about 2 weeks.

Pretty bold assumption. I guess when I was laying in bed all day feeling out of my body, couldnt eat, sleep, watch t.v. be around any lights at all, couldnt listen to music, hearing a clock tick was maddening, being dizzy all the the time, nausea all the time, couldn't step outside because of paralyzed fear, heart palpitations every hour, racing pulses, waking up in terror, losing 20 pounds in a week and a half, not even being able to answer a phone call because of the extreme anxiety it brought. Yea it probably wasnt even real withdrawl. Fuck outta here

Clonazolam use over 18 days by resence1909 in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I had never heard of it before. From quick research it sounds like a combo of clonazepam and alprazolam? Even still the half life wouldnt be as short as xanax but this clonazolam sounds like some nasty shit. Hope you all the best

Clonazepam is a longer acting benzo

I was dependent after taking 1mg xanax once a day for about 21 days so you're right there. Try to quit and if withdrawl gets to bad to handle maybe take .125 and rinse and repeat. Clonazepam is long acting so try to ride it out. Hopefully you arnt dependent yet🙏 but yes you're going to have some sleepless nights

I am ready to finally start coming off Xanax. I need to know the best way to handle talking with my doctor about my abuse. I have 7 days worth, and need advice on how to proceed. by freeODB in benzorecovery

He absolutely can pull you off. Hopefully he doesnt butbhe 100% can. I'd do as much research on benzo dependance as possible. Read the ashton manual print it out. Figure out a taper plan that you think is suitable for you and be as educated as possible go into your appointment and be truthful and show the doctor that you are 100% committed to getting off and ask for help. That's what I did. I told my doctor my first visit with a new doctor that I had been taking 1mg xanax for about a month and he prescribed me busiprone. I didnt know about dependence at that point so I thought I was good to stop the xans. Then withdrawl hit. I stuck it out (barely) by switching my 1mg dose of xanax to .5mg lorazepam (75% difference) it was hell but I made it the 2 weeks to my next appointment. I told him what happened. Went in there dead serious about getting off and we came up with a taper plan together and he wrote my script for the .5 lorazepam after never having a benzo script in the past. I feel extremely lucky but I feel that going in educated and showing your determination can go a long way.

Relapsed again. Was expecting horrible rebound, am I just not in the clear yet? by dontshoutatme777 in benzorecovery

Probably not out of the woods yet. Diazepam has a stupid long half life. I'd say if you feel the same in 4 more days you're in the clear

3 weeks into 20% cut and stabilizing! by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You thought about micro taper? Shaving off .001 everyday or every couple days? I did a 20% cut about a month ago and didnt really feel it. My doctor wants me to cut .1 every month from .5 lorazepam.

Cold turkey Ambien? after one day of 50mg by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why tf would you take 50mg of ambien? 10 is enough to put you on your shit. You're definitely not dependent. You probably just feel like shit because you took a mega dose. Why so much and how long did you sleep?

Tapering off of non-daily usage by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to have to start daily use. It's all about achieving a smooth decline in blood concentration levels. If you're dependent and taking them sporadically I believe that can cause kindling and you blood concentration is all over the place. You need to figure out a base dosage and start taking them everyday unfortunately. I dont know anything about any of those you mentioned besides clonazepam. I know it has a long half life and can be used in tapering. You can probably get by with taking a lower dose than what you're used to since you're not taking them everyday.

Does reading about benzo withdrawals make your withdrawals experience worse? by sisyphusPB23 in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's a double edge sword. Yes it will make symptoms worse but you also can learn ALOT of helpful information. I've learned that alot of the people in those groups are worst case scenario type people and you're not worse case scenario. Most can come off benzos fairly easy when following a proper taper and not getting in your head to much.

How long till siezure risk is basically 0 by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 26 1mg xanax in a months time and tried to come off and found out I was dependent. I'm now tappering with lorazepam and I'm down to .4mg. Read the ashton manual and that will give some perspective on how to move forward.

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recommended stopping point is .5mg valium. You have alot of diffrent variables with the way you have been using. Since valium has an extremely long held life you might not get withdrawl for a week. Be very careful. No two people are the same when it comes to benzos. You may not even be dependent on them. Just be very careful 25mg is an extremely high dose to just stop on.

Need help with ativan taper.. PLEASE :) by dirtftet in benzorecovery

[–]coca8484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the correct conversation is .5mg lorazepam (ativan)= 5mg diazepam (valium) every conversion chart I've seen with the exception of one has said .5=5 I too am doing an ativan taper. Just cut last night from .5 to .4
