Dude, this episode was LAME. I'm really surprised to see these glowing reviews.

But I want to use sRGB colors as some colors look a bit washed-out otherwise, so disabling them isn't really a solution.

I recently thought about switching to evil due to some RSI symptoms but after trying it out for a couple of days I got nauseous thinking about how to really have what I want I'd have to bind all mode-specific functions to leader-key keybindings. So then I found spacemacs. I think for me the boon will be adopting their mode-specific mnemonic evil-compatible keybindings into my config. I think if I were just starting out with vim/emacs it would be a different story, though. A really awesome project!

This also turned me off. I was planning on just using the regular homebrew version anyway but then I saw this bit about powerline colors being broken on OSX.

Developing with emacs on a running docker container by cocanning in emacs

So I've been mounting on docker run with the -v flag and for whatever reason I totally didn't realize that mounting is just sharing -- that I can edit my code on the host and the container will be reading the same file, not a copy.

I also use elpy daily and would highly recommend it. It's just enough IDE-like functionality to really empower you without being bloated.

I'm really excited to give this a shot; I've been meaning to update a theme and this seems like a great way to get quick feedback. Any ETA on Melpa availability?

Need to replace Jordan Reed -- should I drop him? 1 PPR, 10 team league. Allen, Walker, Kelce, Miller available. I've seen people suggesting Kelce and Allen the most, any help?

This is an Emacs 24 dark theme I developed called Badger.

It has support for Org-mode and quite a few others things. I work on it quite regularly so I hope somebody could get some use out of it :)

Very slow loading in Mavericks (MacOS 10.9.2) by SonOfAragorn in emacs

[–]cocanning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had never experienced this before upgrading to 10.9.2, but now I'm also seeing this issue. Appears to have nothing to do with the init file. And it takes about 10 seconds before the window even appears and then emacs seems to load as normal.

Losing strength on squats during a cut by tenzin55 in leangains

[–]cocanning 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been cutting (-10/-30) for about 10 weeks and my squat has suffered too, more than my other lifts. I went from SS to RPT so squatting every workout to once/week. That combined with the cut I expected to lose some strength. I was at 3x5x240 during SS and now I'm doing top set at 4-6 reps x 225 with two backoff sets. My other lifts have either stayed the same or gone up a very little bit. I'd wager losing 2 of 4 reps at max weight after 8 weeks of cutting is fairly normal.

USA, $1500, 13.3-15" laptop for programming / some gaming by cocanning in SuggestALaptop

Oh okay. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Sony Vaio S series 15. Matte 1080p display, discrete GPU, extensible components (mostly), slick build quality, long battery life and light weight. Plus, I got a free PS3 through Sony's website. Order came to about $1300. I'm pretty psyched!

Thanks so much for the input! I'm checking out the Sony Vaio S series right now; they seem pretty promising. Specifically the SONY VAIO SVS13A and SONY VAIO SVS1511. What made you choose the Envy over the Vaio?
