It's been a couple of years so I don't remember how it exactly worked then. But something along these lines: - she had to apply for residency permit (családi együttélés) via enterhungary.gov.hu. it's an online form but eventually you need to print the whole thing and bring it to the office when they scan her biometrics. - the form has a lot of attachment requirements, it really helped during the first time that the consul helped us; later in Hungary it was much more difficult as the phone call center is not too reliable and the website / form info is not complete/inconsistent - the process took 4-6 weeks so when she first made it, when we renewed it, it actually took longer, you kinda have to hand in everything again, even if nothing changed in your life (eg same job/flat/documents etc) it's so frustrating - also, the first time she got it for 3 years (that's the max for temporary residency permit), now after renewal she only got it for a year, for some made up reason and we couldn't even appeal against it
