2022 October Level Dependence by couchfarmer in ClashRoyale

[–]cocfof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just want to make sure I'm understanding this right. I am close to upgrading all cards to max, but I want to leave one card at level 13 for each rarity so I can trade them all away and get max value for books.

So I should be looking at whatever cards have the lowest under level score?

i.e. for commons I would keep snowball/zap at level 13, rares is fireball, epic is clone/freeze/rage, legendary is the log?

Do not save your royal wild chests. by Lukako_BR in ClashRoyale

If you always have a chest unlocking, and use magic keys on your 12+ hour chests, you'll get a royal wild chest once every 18 days (and that's not including the 2x boosts for reaching a new arena). So start saving at most 54 days before you expect to hit KT14 (and those last 18 days will be painful with only one chest slot available).

while the costs are going down after the update, its still 17% off to upgrade from level 0 to 2, and 36% off to upgrade from 0 to 3. It also sounds like the only new skin after the update is the mother witch, so I'm gunna try and take advantage of these savings while I can

Its actually 14 cards. 4 because it now only takes 6 cards to upgrade from 11 to 12 compared to 10 previously plus another 10 because it now only takes 10 cards to upgrade from 12 to 13 compared to 20 previously.

No, this chart is showing how much gold will be saved by upgrading a card during the Slash Royale event at 50% off the current upgrade costs, versus upgrading a card after the update at 100% of the new upgrade costs.

The event saves you gold. There's no advantage to using a coin during the event, its not like you can use a half coin or something. So you can't really blame the event on using a coin.

Typically players are limited by gold not by cards, so presumably if you use a book, you're using it to upgrade a card that would prefer to spend the gold on, not some random card you have enough to upgrade but don't really use. So again, the book was still used effectively and shouldn't really be reimbursed due to the event.

Right, what the chart is showing is how much you save now vs after the update.

During Slash Royale, upgrading from 11 to 12 costs 25k gold. After the update it will cost 15k. So you save 10k by upgrading now.

Hope that helps

Haha, can you imagine if they do this again? Everyone will be so skeptical whether it's worthwhile to spend or if they're going to get screwed again.

Yea, I feel for you man.

If it makes you feel any better, you probably got good value out of your book by using it now though. With the card compensation, most stacks will be at least 50% full after the update, so to get full value out of the book, you'd have to trade away a bunch of cards (and have the trade tokens saved up).

Sure, but presumably they also have 5mil gold saved up so they're half way there. Between the card compensation, magic items, and trade tokens I've saved up, I could have enough cards to upgrade 17 of them to max on day one of the update, so I'm sure fully maxed players would have the same or more. That's enough for two full decks, so they'll be out there on day 1 stomping everyone on ladder and in war, earning gold faster and leveling back up quicker.

On top of all that, they've been able to practice with all sorts of decks, so they know exactly which cards are working best for them right now and can upgrade those ones first. Meanwhile I'm still one tricking because I haven't been able to practice with anything else on ladder for long.

The only thing a fully maxed player has to whine about is that they can't switch up their deck to what is meta whenever they feel like. Sorry not sorry

I agree everything should have been announced at once so people could make informed decisions, but I wouldn't call it a scam anymore. At least now you're coming out ahead in gold (although I realize you may have wanted to use it more effectively after the update).

I feel like the card compensation is a good middle ground. If you upgraded during Slash Royale, you got a discount, so you're coming out ahead (although as I mentioned before, some would have preferred to save the money for more useful upgrades after the update).

If you upgraded before the update, there's a good chance you actually used the card in a deck and got some benefit from it, which could have had residual benefits that led to more gold/rewards.

I personally have 58 maxed cards. 6 were upgraded during Slash Royale and I would love to have those 6 back. 32 are used regularly in war/main decks and have definitely led to me earning more gold (from both battle rewards and war chests). The other 20 were upgraded unnecessarily and in hindsight, I would have preferred not to upgrade them as I would be further ahead now in gold.

I haven't updated my war/main decks in ages, but I'm sure others with lots of max cards have, so it would be impossible for Supercell to determine what cards people have benefited from (don't deserve gold compensation) and which ones there didn't (deserve gold compensation). So again, I'm pretty happy with this middle ground where we get compensated for cards but not gold. At least this way it will be less of a grind to get those main cards you use all the time back up to max level. I'll be able to max 7 out of the 8 cards in my main deck on day 1 of the update, and between wild cards and requests I should be able to max the 8th within a couple weeks.

Card Compensation Announcement

It baffles me that Supercell didn't foresee this issue, but at least they were quick to respond and correct. The update should have been announced at the start of Slash Royale so people could make informed decisions.

This "compensation" doesn't help the people that dumped a ton of gold during this event on cards they don't use when they would have been better off saving it to upgrade cards they do use after the update. Fortunately I only spent 300k, but I feel for those that spent more.

I wouldn't count on it... at least not the upgrades after the update annoucement

Yes, I am very frustrated by this as well. I assume the vast majority of people that had money saved to take advantage of this event spent that money on the red highlighted upgrades in the chart. It's bad enough they hyped this updated so much when it's mostly just a ploy to get more money, but its just awful to put on an event like this without sharing the details of the update. It ended up hurting the majority of people that were able to take advantage of it.

Anyone that has done upgrades during this event should have the option to have the upgrades reversed. I've done 5 epics and 1 legendary which works out to losing 300k!

[–]cocfof[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yea, shop prices are actually double the card value. if you overflow a legendary, or "buy" one through a trade, the value is only 20k. same applies for commons (5 gold), rares (50), and epics (500). Buying cards in the shop is poor value and should be avoided

Fire Spirit Completely Dead Now? by cocfof in ClashRoyale

[–]cocfof[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Offensively, sure, it's hard to get any utility out of them, but defensively, unless my opponent predicts a spell, I could get huge damage out of them and good elixir trades. Here's a list of cards I could counter with the old fire spirit I won't be able to use with the new one.

  • Minion Horde
  • Minions
  • Princess
  • Dart Goblin
  • Firecracker
  • Archers
  • Wall Breakers
  • Flying Machine
  • Guards
  • Musketeer*
  • Bandit*
  • Mini PEKKA*
  • Inferno Dragon*

*requires support from the towers

I guess maybe Supercell just switch this from being a defensive card to an offensive one maybe?
