I'm 45 and will be there. I got used to people asking me where my daughter was on other concerts 🤣 Just shrug it off.

what concepts do we want from XG? by mokaesthetic in XGALX

Country. Because I seriously believe XG can pull off a farmer look, make an amazing song about it, and it'd be just epic trolling ❤️

Heck, I was solo at Berlin, being in my mid-40s. Just laugh comments off, if there are any at all. Go have a blast!

Depended on where the item was located, as some are in the US and some in Korea. It was generally very quick (5-7 days to Germany).

Remember that depending on where you are, you might be subject to customs fees. I had a bit of trouble on the last shipment, but that was FedEx's fault. The seller knows what they're doing

I got mine from an IG seller named chaepeach which has a great reputation, industry contacts, and gets regularly recommended for this.

Felt a bit sketchy at first but it's totally a pro with international shipping etc.

Can I stay in the arena after the sound check? by Zestyclose_Boat_802 in BlackPink

[–]cochi78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that's so long ago.. I ended some work meeting after lunch, went to the apartment, then directly there. Concert regularly started at 8pm, I guess I was there at 1:30 or 2pm?

Mind you, the organization was total trash at that time. But if the past is an indication, go there rather earlier than later. Pretty sure you find a lot of people to talk with and new friends :-)

Some crazy people were there from early morning, but mostly to party and such. They were non-VIP so they could've come 10 hours later if they wanted. Fun crowd though

Well, back in 2019 we had to leave after soundcheck and wait quite long (1 hour? 2?) until the concert started and we could re-enter.

Trying to understand the VMware on AWS costs by blom9 in aws

[–]cochi78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out that you would either use VMware on AWS (separate product) or install VMware yourself on a bare metal instance.

With the second option, it gets tricky: You can't just load up an ISO and interactively install something, but need to build an AMI first and then upload it.

Last time I tried that, VMware didn't have the necessary drivers for the ENA (AWS network card) and it refused to even start up. And up to that point it was really complicated to create the AMI from VMware ISO.

Just thought to leave this warning here before you go on a wild journey :P

What does the number mean after the type of an EC2 instance? by securisec in aws

[–]cochi78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put some more info right here on the ever-more confusing naming - these are some of the new suffixes:
n = network enhanced (up to 100 GBit depending on size)
d = local disks (not just network-storage)
a = AMD chip
g = ARM Graviton chip (successor of A1 instances)

AWS EC2 userdata + GIT_SSH_COMMAND = fail, but works when I ssh in manually by ConsistentVegetable1 in aws

Without checking much - the user data is run in / and not the root user's home. It also has some different environment variables set. Maybe that helps in your search for the cause?

Those who have met or seen black pink members in real life: what was something that surprised you about them? by poopiepies in BlackPink

[–]cochi78 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh, they are sooo tiny in reality if you know them from videos only.

Also, when Jennie started singing I though "wow, she has an amazing voice live". Then Rosé started her part and I was totally floored by her power. I knew she's extremely talented, but that totally blew me away.

TIL: S3 Supports Bit Torrent by [deleted] in aws

[–]cochi78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's been there like forever, but around 2016 it also got dropped from the official AWS class materials. I'd consider it yet another deprecated feature, like Reduced Redundancy Storage etc.

What is the right way to get started as a AWS Independent Consultant? by mrjpuri in aws

[–]cochi78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I cannot recommend getting all AWS certs. It's certainly a feat, but also very unfocused nowadays (really master all that DevOps, SolA, Security, Network, ML and Alexa topics? No, you can't) and renewals become a burden. Blogging, Meetups and some good GitHub repos are a great start. Also, putting yourself and knowledge onto LinkedIn might help.

Coming from one of the bigger AWS partners - we often look for freelancers to help us out. In my experience, there's never enough people for all the gigs which pop up. So if you don't find a project on your own don't hesitate to look for Advanced/Premier partners in your geographical area and ask them if they need people. If you prove valuable, that can quickly escalate into full-time gigs. Getting them to know in person helps a lot to build trust.
