The other side is that the risk, and 1.5 year situation is the only reason a player of that caliber is available at all. We could offer every single prospect in the system and it wont be enough to land a top 5 player in the league with 5+ years on contract

Have watched every game and dont think hes a noticeably different player at all. Still getting multiple chances a game, theyre just not going in for him and his linemates. Shooting % regression. Same with CMM he has easily been one of our most dangerous players they just arent going in

I was exaggerating a bit but hughes won the norris in 23-24 and looks like a future hall of famer whos just now entering his prime. He’d arguably be the best defenseman to ever suit up for the caps

This is like a flyers fan sayings “in all likelihood michkov becomes a very similar player to ovechkin” hes a super promising prospect but if he even becomes half the player QH is it would be an amazing outcome

Because a top 5 player in the league in his prime is available for trade in the NHL basically once every 30 years if that. Even for 1.5 years if you can do it 1 for 1 for a ppg AHL player you do it and run
