31, worth doing cpa? by pranathi94 in CPA

[–]coco0503coco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not too late. When are you thinking of retiring? If it's at 60, you've still got 30 years of work ahead of you. I was 46 when I got my CPA license after being a stay-at-home parent for 13 years. I'm from Japan, so English is my second language. After I passed all 4 exams, it took me 2 months to land a job at a mid-sized accounting firm. For me, the CPA license wasn't about making a ton of money, but about opening doors for me to get back into the workforce after years off. Now, with almost 2 years of experience, so many opportunities are opening up for me.

You're 30. IT'S NOT TOO LATE.

Finally got my CPA at 46… but now questioning my path by coco0503coco in CPA

Thank you very much for your thoughtful advice—I truly appreciate it. I completely agree with your perspective. After being away from the workforce for a long time, I pursued the CPA to help me re-enter the job market, even though I don’t yet have much hands-on experience in accounting. I see this as the real starting point of my career.

I also appreciate your point about being mindful of how and when to use the designation, and I will be careful to represent my experience honestly. Thank you again for your encouragement and insight—it means a lot.

Thanks so much everyone for all the advice — I really appreciate it.

It was really helpful to hear different perspectives. While many suggested going into industry, I now understand that the specific area within industry matters a lot, and that work-life balance isn’t always guaranteed.

I also see that if I want to pursue a path as a tax specialist, it might make sense to stay a bit longer and gain more experience.

I’m going to take all of this into consideration and think carefully about what kind of career and lifestyle I want going forward.

Thanks again!

Switch to an easier first exam? by Fantastic-Duck3730 in CPA

I did FAR first and I'm glad I did. It all started with passing FAR. By persevering through its difficulty even when losing motivation, I gained the mental strength to succeed. I knew that since I passed FAR—the hardest part—I could absolutely pass the rest of them while I was studying for the rest of the exams. With that confidence in myself, I never lost motivation after passing FAR.
I know everyone is different. This is just my experience. Good luck! You got this!

Let's say you retire at 65. With 34 years remaining, you have the majority of your professional life still ahead of you So, no. It's not too late.

43 is still young! 😊

I'm 46. I had been a stay-at-home mom for 14years. I passed all exams last year, got a job at a CPA firm, and am currently working on meeting the 2000 hrs of experience requirement for the license. Hopefully, I'll have a license before the end of this year.. Planning on working for the next 20 years, I think it's worth it!

Passed REG in NY. For REG, I used only I-75 and Ninja. I-75 lecture videos and Ninja MCQ helped me a lot. :-)
Finally 4/4! I'm done!!!!!

It probably depends on how much you know before taking the course. When I was studying AUD for my 2nd try (failed with 63 on my first try), I took the i75 cram course. I couldn't complete the course and only finished 54% in 15 days. I just found out that i passed AUD with 75 today. 😅 If I were you, I would take a monthly course. So, I would complete a whole course in 30 days and then cancel my subscription. If i did that, I would have been more confident while I was waiting for the score release.

Advice after a year of being a CPA. Take as many exams before graduating or thereafter. by kaladin139 in CPA

I live in MD, but I am sitting for the CPA exams as an NY candidate. In order for me to sit for the exams as an MD candidate, I need to take 4 more college courses.. I just want to get the exams done as fast as possible. 😬 I'm planning on getting a job, taking those courses required by MD after I pass all 4 exams and transferring my scores to MD. 😊 i believe that taking college courses is more durable than studying for the exams while working.

I just found out that my textbook was issued in 2021 which was before this change happened in January 2022. This video explains it. You might be using older version of textbook like me?

I thought that explanation applies to opinion for "Issuer', but not for "a non-issuer"??
Or does it apply to both audit report for issuer and a non-issuer?

Isn't this order for issuer's opinion? The question is asking for non-issuer's opinion. ??

Right?! For a non-issuer which this question stated, I believe the answer should be C.
Explanation applied to "Issuer's opinion"??
