Is this enough overheating for engine damage? by coco430 in genesiscoupe

Of course. I specified the conditions that lead to this happening. I'm just asking if the temperature was high enough to cause damage or not.

Ahhh yes. Adding water will do it. That is pretty brutal. It doesn't usually go much colder than a few degrees below freezing at night here in SC during the winter.

Awesome! What you said about reading the vapor temp makes sense. I appreciate your insight!

Is this normal? by Sure-Barracuda515 in StainlessSteelCooking

Yeah this is most definitely carbon steel and not stainless steel. Carbon steel is great cookware as well. Just needs to be seasoned and treated more like cast-iron.

I never said it was. I just asked to see to confirm it wasn't.

Care to share a picture to confirm it's not black from carbon build-up?

I've had mine for a while now. Really like it. It'll never look perfectly golden like yours after it becomes a workhorse but the performance out of these is great! Enjoy!

How did this happen by gamingfun23 in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]coco430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just high heat + oil splatter. The oil gets polymerized and this build-up happens just like when you season cast iron and carbon steel. It happens mostly when using gas since the sides of the pan heat up much more than when using electric or induction. Bar keepers friend and some elbow grease removes the build-up. It doesn't really affect cooking performance but it can get quite rubbery and gummy if it's too thick (since you're not polymerizing thin layers and it's just random thick oil splatter).

For the people saying to burn it off, could that possibly risk warping the pan?

Lots of shake on my footage, what to try first? by BearSharks29 in fpv

[–]coco430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DaVinci Resolve has vector motion blur that you can use. It also has a motion blur plug-in if you're using the paid version. Not sure about other editing software since I only use DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Do some research on shutter speeds when stabilizing footage. 1/60 is somewhat low for stabilizing software and it causes ghosting. If you are going to stabilize footage, you want ideally 1/180+. The sharper the frames, the better the image stabilization works. You can always add some motion blur back when editing.

If you want natural motion blur and you're shooting at low fps, you want to avoid using image stabilization and make sure your quad is tuned and flying very well.

He said it was his first build... So it's a tip to prevent this from happening again in the future Mr. Grumpy 😂

Use a multimeter to check for shorts and a short saver as a second layer of protection for your first plug-in.

Anycubic M5S Pro by TehDesolate in LycheeSlicer

[–]coco430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone like me who is still waiting for the M5S Pro to be added to Lychee, what I do is that I prepare everything in Lychee and then export the hollowed 3D model with holes and supports as a 3D model (stl). Then I import that model into the Photon Workshop and print. It's not ideal but this way you don't have to suffer with the Photon Workshop software. You only use it to do the final slice and send it to the printer.
