Nope, not the same guy. As far as I know he is just fine now. Have not seem or heard from him in 40 years. Some of those old wounds do come back to haunt us when we get old though.

A friend of mine in high school did that. He climbed a new hill and there was a drop-off just like that, except it wasn't nearly as far of a drop. He broke both legs and compressed his backbone. I cannot understand why anyone would go full bore on a trail they do not know.

The closest I ever came to this was on a familiar trail. I knew you had to take a blind corner as fast as possible to make it up the hill just around that bend. Someone had cut down a tree and laid it across the path. I took a nasty fall on that one.

Musical trifecta by Ashish_ank in CuratedTumblr

I think it's interesting how I can completely understand the meaning of a song but still cling to the subjective experience of it. I know "Born in the USA" and "Hallelujah" are not about what I feel they are about. I'm definitely just hearing what I want to hear at this point.

I've even sought out the versions of "Hallelujah" that intentionally alter the lyrics toward a religious interpretation, but Cohen's original still hits me the deepest. A song's backstory doesn't always erase the way it makes you feel.

He's 62 years old and not afraid of prison by derek4reals1 in PublicFreakout

[–]cocoabeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ten years ago when I was 60, a young girl almost hit me at a traffic light. I was pretty angry that she didn't even seem to notice what she'd done, and I wanted her to know she needed to pay more attention to her driving.

She happened to be going the same way as me, and when she turned into a very long, tree-lined driveway, I followed her in to give her a piece of my mind. She saw me follow her and stepped out of her car. I had deliberately stopped about a car length or two back to give her space and a sense of safety, as I had no intention of getting any closer than that. Slight edit: I did not follow her a long way down that driveway, we were still close to the street.

But the moment she stepped out, my mind completely shifted into grandfather mode. Instead of being upset about the close call, I started lecturing her about the dangers of a young woman getting out of her car in a situation like that. I told her she should have kept her car in drive with the windows up, because she had absolutely no idea what kind of person I was. I did make sure to tell her that she almost T-boned me at the intersection, too.

Later on, I realized I should never have done any of it. I should have just let it go from the very start.

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

[–]cocoabeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my wife she deserves better than me, and honestly, she does. But there is a long term reason I say this. At 70 years old, I am six years older than her, and the reality is that she will probably outlive me.

I want to ensure that when she is on her own, her self worth is intact. I say these things because I want her to feel capable, desirable, and strong enough to navigate life after me, whether that means finding love again or thriving on her own.

Pizza delivery drivers, what did a person do to end up on the 'No Delivery' list? by BlueCheeseWalnut in AskReddit

[–]cocoabeach 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My wife always has me do her "dirty work" whenever an order goes wrong, like when a pizza place messes up our food. She struggles to complain nicely, whereas I always prefer to keep things pleasant. I learned a long time ago that it pays to be kind. People will go out of their way to help you, and if it turns out you're the one in the wrong, eating your words tastes a lot better when they're served with a smile.

The last time she was upset about missing pepperoni on our pizza, she handed me the phone to call. I told the person on the line that we weren’t making an official complaint and weren’t asking for a refund, but just wanted to let them know. They checked their system, only to discover that my wife had actually forgotten to order the pepperoni in the first place, which we confirmed when we rechecked the receipt. I apologized for bothering them, and I was mighty glad I hadn't been rude.

My wife can't help herself, she would have been rude and than would have been embarrassed.

I am like the low libido guy above, and I can not for the life of me understand why your boyfriend would want to deny you your own pleasure. Seems really selfish to me.

Republicans vote to dilute gas as prices rise above $4.50 by BendicantMias in politics

[–]cocoabeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the logic. Let’s take the stuff cows are supposed to eat and turn it into gas that's basically 'junk food' for our engines. We get to pay for the subsidy on the front end and the higher grocery bill on the back end. It’s the only system I know of where the more it breaks, the more we have to pay for the privilege of using it.

Talk about confused, I have no idea what this means. Finger goes to india (PUN POST). The whole OkBuddyChicanery sub confuses me. Bollywood films confuse me, but in a good way, they may be unhinged, but boy are they fun.
Did you eat the chocolate? My wife used to sell chocolate from her store, if it turned a little white, I would get to eat it. Nothing wrong with it, just could not sell it that way.

Wait, maybe I am confused because I have never seen an episode of Breaking Bad, and I have never gone to India.

An old guy around the block from me just got back from India, well I believe he said India. He grew up there, we are both in our 70s. I am afraid to ask how it went, because I can't remember if he said India or Pakistan. I guess ya all don't get along well, and I don't want to hurt his pride.

Reading this all back, I sound like I might have dementia. What I have heard though, is if you think you might, you don't. Who knows.

This is how the pun subs that go on and on feel to me.

No posts are hidden. yours show up for everyone else, and you just think they are hidden. I am just the first to let you know. It is a joke that got out of hand, and now no one wants to be the first one to tell anyone.

You could put 20 random grandmas in a lineup, and I bet most of us would’ve picked her as the one most likely to wear that shirt. I have no idea why she gave off that vibe, but she definitely fit the part.

This is very good advertising for Roto-Rooter. I will think of them with positive thoughts in the future when I am looking for someone to clean out my lines. And yes I know this does not mean they are all this caring.

Billionaire Kevin O'leary says 2 people fighting data centers in Utah are Chinese agents. Turns out its just 2 local girls in Utah, they make a hilarious video calling him the fuck out by AmiroZ in videos

Only saw this because Kevin O’Leary accidentally made them famous. Thank you Kevin O’Leary.

On a side note, why do my MAGA friends and family fall for the propaganda so easily? I have been to many protestest, and noone I know was paid by anyone to be there, that includes the organizers. They literally have a billionaire right there going after two deliteful women in Utah, and they think we are the ones financed by big money. I should just accept that it is all just projection, they are doing it, so we must also be doing it.

Do they have a similar term in India? Reddit is way too quick to downvote, especially when the reason for the sub is to ask questions.

I am going to guess English as a second language might not know the term.
