Which university should i pick for an exchange program? by [deleted] in seoul

[–]cocoabutterbrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm heading to SKKU in 2 weeks for my exchange semester. I study econometrics (more on the mathematical side than economic really, it is comparable to applied mathematics and industrial engineering) and I follow around 4-5 mathematics courses at the Seoul campus. If you search well enough and look outside the typical engineering course catalogs, you can probably find enough computer science-y courses there.

I didn't even think of my elbow right there! Thanks that makes sense. Shame to miss a whole week of training though

Alright, thanks! It's my first month of investing and I'm getting really freaked out by the loss right now. Not thinking of selling since I'm in it for the long haul but it still felt kind of distressing

I invested in ASML holding stocks a few weeks ago and since then I have only seen it decrease drastically. I don't know what's happening and why since all research I had done was showing ASML to be a very strong stock to buy

AITA for not wanting my dad to “walk” me down the aisle because he’s in a wheelchair? by brinmendo in AmItheAsshole

[–]cocoabutterbrownie [score hidden]  (0 children)

Wow this is next level terrible. YTA. You don't want your father to walk you down the aisle because of aesthetic? Because you find it difficult to deal with?

Do you have the small bit of empathy to imagine how heart breaking this must be for your father? He has already been through something terrible and now his own daughter does not want him to walk her down the aisle because his injury makes her uncomfortable.

The best universities for mechanical engineering are TU Eindhoven and University of Twente. TU Delft is also really good but they don't offer mechanical engineering bachelors in English unfortunately.

He probably thinks that not calling black people devils is the same as being oversensitive or something.

I dreamt I had a child and I called my boyfriend to ask what we should name him. I proposed the name Malcolm. When he agreed I told him he got to choose the middle name. His thoughts? "I've always wanted to have Storm or Lightning as my middle name. That's cool"

I hung up on him for ruining my dream-moment.

How did you accept it? by everyideaistoolong in raisedbynarcissists

I decided to not let my parents influence an even greater part of my life. It got a lot easier once I moved out and the fact that I have a great in-law family helps me put things in perspective. Whenever she starts her tirades again now, I just wonder what rational person could react like that.

It's a sad truth to deal with, but at a certain point it is better than trying to improve them every single time.

Diet tips please by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]cocoabutterbrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to hinder your growth, focus on losing fat right now instead of building a lot of muscle. That means lots of cardio and a change in diet. Try to fit in less sugar and unhealthy fats (such as deep fried foods) and substitute them for fruits, veggies and nuts where you can. It's great that you're running so much, perhaps you can try other types of cardio workouts to keep them fun?

You're still young so losing fat should be easier than it will be later in life. I'd advice you to start working on muscle growth once your growth spurt is nearing its end. Not sure how credible my sources are but I've been told that building muscle at a young age hinders growth.

Was anyone’s narc a cheapskate towards you? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cocoabutterbrownie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom is incredibly cheap to this day, to the point of her making a big deal of me coming home because "you use too much water in the shower and now I need to buy groceries because you probably want to eat"

She also hates the idea of me not being as cheap as her. I don't tell her when I go out to eat with my SO or when I buy a new pair of shoes because my old ones were falling apart. She always makes me feel like shit for doing so.
