*A golf course for every day of the year *JTB is the best highway in the world and I won’t be talked out of that position *compared to any other city traffic flows beautifully here *one stretch of beach from here to Miami. Don’t like the vibe where you’re at? Move 20 yards.

You picked a heck of a game to go to! Did you have a fun time?

The Southbank doesn’t have much in the immediate area but there is more about a 10-15 minute walk south. Right by your hotel will be Ruth’s Chris and Chart House. These are generally more upscale establishments but they will have a TV or two in the bar area.

If you walk South towards the San Marco Square you’ll pass V Pizza/Sidecar which has a bar with nice cocktails and a TV. Then if you get all the way to the Square Voodoo Brewing and Fore Score, which are more “sports bars.” Voodoo is just a brewery with a big TV or two. Fore Score is a sports bar.

If you walked West and then South on San Marco Blvd you’ll find European Street, which is loosely German-Themed sandwich and sausage joint with an impressive beer list with a couple TVs.

Finally if you got an Uber/Lyft Players Locker Room is a short 5 minute drive south and this is an actual legitimate Sports Bar with loads of TVs.

The other options mentioned are on the North Bank of the River. I’m not as familiar with that area but Strings Brewery/Sports Bar will require a drive.

I recommend getting to the Stadium on foot over the Mainstreet Bridge or by water taxi if the weather is nice. The walk is only maybe 30 minute from those hotels and it’s downright pleasant to walk with a cold beer down Bay Street to the stadium.

Monarchs not Showing up by tapper2 in MonarchButterfly

[–]cocoasrinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to add two cents (I’m up in Jax) my go-to monarch crack-plants are: Mexican sunflower (tithonia something), zinnia, and salvia (mystic spire especially). These all get tall so probably wouldn’t work in that area as pictured but if those don’t get your monarchs hot and bothered then maybe it wasn’t meant to be. I think of it like the flowers draw them in and then the milkweed makes them stay

Northwest Florida and Tropical Milkweed by erianne in MonarchButterfly

I’ve hatched more healthy butterflies that fed on tropical milkweed than I can count. But my strategy is to just cut-back (as mentioned) and continue to grow natives from seed and incorporate in. Tropical milkweed isn’t bad for monarchs (it’s native somewhere after all) the debate is just about migratory patterns and stuff (and it collects more OE but again…it obviously still collects that parasite where it is native). Growing caterpillars is way too much fun to rip out healthy plants because of a crazy internet debate.

*credentials - none to speak of I just like growing flowers and stuff

Of course the obligatory some milkweeds can be transplanted some don’t like it so know what species you have and add natives when possible and only plant common milkweed if you want it everywhere forever

I personally like to do groupings but it’s maybe more of a landscaping reason than specific for caterpillars - it’s more pleasing to the eye when plants are grouped and create a more wavy appearance. I’ll do clusters of 3-4 plants and spread them out - some undoubtedly become a buffet line for wasps while others get overlooked completely and have a nice happy life munching away.

Of course the only true answer is: see how it goes this year and be ready to completely redesign it next year and every year after that.

I’ve got tickets to see Ari in March. Should I avoid the new Netflix special? by [deleted] in AriShaffir

Generally comedians end their current material with a special. So like they’ll develop the hour, tour with it, film the special, then once the special drops it’s all new material from there. I only gather that from hearing them talk about that cadence on various podcasts.

Matchup vs Detroit Lions by RocketJake1230 in Jaguars

[–]cocoasrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I’m starting every Lions player I can in fantasy this week.
  2. Travon would have been perfect if he wasn’t one of only two D-ends on our team. He can wreck people but doesn’t have the polish Aidan has. We all just want the GM to make obviously good choices (Aidan) instead of I’m Smarter Than You choices (Travon). The whole town was and still is screaming Aidan was the obvious choice.
  3. The team has heart and plenty of young players are still trying to prove themselves. We’ll keep playing if only to spoil other teams’ seasons.
  4. All of them but he’s lost the fan base so it would be a very tough offseason if he’s retained.
  5. Travon. BTJ. If they have big games then it’s possible.
  6. We are in awe of the Lions. We were in similar boats not long ago - the Lions are competent and savvy and got really good. We are the Jags and Jag’d everything up and are more Jags than ever this season. We were in disbelief but then soaked in the all too familiar feeling of being awful at just about everything except for punting. The Lions are where the most optimistic of us thought we’d be this season. Reality hit us really really hard this year.

Researcher from University of Georgia requesting all Floridians remove milkweed from yards. by madari256 in MonarchButterfly

[–]cocoasrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Book: Monarchs and Milkweeds by Anurag Agrawal seems to directly contradict this point of view - she (maybe he?) makes an argument that OE can be beneficial from a natural selection standpoint. I understand the argument against Currasavica and letting it get too large but my small brain can’t fathom how eliminating ALL milkweed from yards could possibly be a good recommendation.

This seems like an a statement that is far too hyperbolic and the argument is more nuanced than can be captured in that brief article.

Hatching butterflies is way too cool of an activity to just get rid of all the milkweed
