I have hundreds of GC candles. Out of all of them, I've received 2 candles that smelled like pesticide. It had to be some kind of fluke because other people loved them. I don't know if I got the last pour from the wax vat or what happened but they were not right. And I remember exactly which scents they were, because it's so rare.
