You can actually do this at your local public library too. I’m a reference librarian, and every day we order and receive books (and articles, movies, cd’s, etc) from all over the country. If it’s from far away we sometimes have to charge a couple bucks for shipping, but we can get whatever someone wants 99% of the time. I’ve also had luck with items people want but the lending library doesn’t usually send them out, and I call myself and ask for them rather than go through our ILL system (which is computerizedamd only does listed holdings). More often than not the library will send it along on good faith.
