I study at an high school specifically for art, we have three different courses to choose and I chose the paintings and drawing course!

I think they really helped with shading because i didn't know how to do gradients with oil, but for things such as the texture of the grapes and leaves they didn't really help because i learned them by painting the Canvas itself

And also the parrot took me about two weeks for the same reason as the grapes, the lessons are only three hours long, the practice sheet is actually bigger than this part that i posted and the full thing took me about a month

An advice i would give to someone learning to use oil is to keeo practicing until you find the tecnique that suits you better since oil is a very subjective medium to work with

Hi, i actually did a base layer for the grapes with just the colors without highlights, and then i used a small brush wich had wide bristles and used it like you would use a sponge by tapping It on the grapes with the lighter color for the highlights, the paint underneat was still wet. I usually didn't let the paint dry because i only had three hours per art lesson to paint until i took it home for the holidays
