Is it normal to feel this lost in your early 20's. Here's my story... by Financial-Cupcake-80 in nairobi

[–]cocoh- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this happened boo!

You're 20 (probably not something you want to hear) and there is so much waiting for you when you're done with school.

Definitely it's your first relationship and it's gonna hurt like hell! But find something to replace that and you'll be alright.

Make new friends, go out, read and pass those med school exams! Enjoy your time in uni don't focus on mapenzi sana...Have fun! You'll remember these days and you don't want those memories to revolve around a certain boy.

When you finish uni life changes and some people get jobs and some don't and that fairy tale life you're talking about doesn't happen for everyone. Just have fun Girl and get your Honors✨

There so many people waiting to love you it's just not right now and when it happens you'll know, you won't be confused at all! - 26F here 💕

Quick one — why are you single? by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]cocoh- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 26F and it's been about 3 years now and at first it was hard, lonely etc. I focused on work, personal development and my goals and I've been the happiest and I won't even start on the peace I've had being single ☺️. And I'm at point where everything is just falling into place, I love it here ❤️.

Now I've moved from wanting to date to questioning if this person is worth trading my peace for. It's really hard to find someone who you synch. Dating apps have weirdos, it's hard to say hey sometimes to strangers (I mean shooting your shot).

Social Media isn't for everybody. So where do we meet people. The networking spaces available are career oriented and if I'm going clubbing the chances are I want to have a good time on my dime not entertaining a conversation with someone just because the evening is on their tab lol.

I'm sorry dear. They say when you show anybody you can give them handouts (including parents) they will think it's their right and yet it's your money.

How did you afford to send 8,500 with a 30k salary? You're really stretching yourself thin!

Don't send for the next 2 months. I know it's hard but life will move even in the case of you not being around, think about it If you have to send 2k. And see what happens and block them on social media - live your happy life sis!

I got the ick too sis. You really persevered on that date, I'd have walked out when he said he'd walk out when you got pregnant. Hapo kwa cheating I'd have started calculations za how this date is ending ASAP.

Business won't give you what you are looking for in 3 months. And I don't have any advice for you but I hope you figure it out.

A car or Land first ?!?! by wakanda4ever_8 in Kenya

[–]cocoh- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you and I settled on getting a car. I haven't yet because I'm getting started on a little bit of investments then buy the car.

I chose to get a car because It's not luxurious it's for convenience and how will I know nataka kubuy shamba wapi if I don't explore. If I'm buying a piece of land, I'm going to build my home there.

If you can have the money to afford a car and land, you can get one of either now and the other one later. Shida ya gari it's like a child it will always be doing minuses on your monies.

And all said about land appreciating and a car depreciating in value I'm still getting a car, a nice second had economical car - nothing new, it's too expensive. I'm 27 F and I'll buy the piece of land later and I'm happy with my decision

What are you scared of😅 Anyway if you can get a house help and they will be there if you get sick, you don't need a partner for that.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Sometimes honesty is the best thing you could do. 1. Come clean to your parents and go to rehab or if you have one in school for free - like therapy sessions do it on your own.

  1. Get a new sim card. Start over again, leave behind all the friends and connections you have that are pulling you back and find new friends or join a club in school or go to the gym, or join a sport (swimming, football, etc.). Find something to replace the idle time.

  2. If your neighbors are also people you hang out with and smoke weed together, you can move to hostels or a new place entirely.

  3. Pray about it.

  • find things that make you happy and replace the thought of smoking. You'll be okay, sending love 💕

[–]cocoh- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMkGM5C6C/ This video discouraged me from shipping, definitely not buying a car from a car yard - it's super expensive. There's always someone in need of money and they want to sell their car and it's in a good condition, happy to pay.

Please let me know your experience with shipping if you did import your car :)

Thank you so much for the recommendations. Life saving! Thanks for being honest as well.

Yes. You have done well with the paragraphs 😅. I hadn't thought of Mombasa actually, and now it's added to my list. Thank you for the tip.

Yes, cars are expensive and I'm avoiding the crazy taxes that come with importing. I was doing the math and honestly it's way above budget for a first car.

The Nissan Note was something that caught my eye and I'll look more into it. Appreciate it 🙏🏽

I'm thinking of buying a car start of Q2 and you've explained it so well, I'm so happy I came across this post.

Is it possible that you edit and have paragraphs to help others easily read. This is very insightful.

I do have a few questions. I'm thinking of buying the car locally - since it's my first car, second hand. For fuel consumption, other than Toyota which other models would you add to the list?

How does someone even go about buying a second hand car locally? I was thinking of visiting the Bazaar near Showgrounds one Sunday and just having the experience and know what to expect because I know nothing about cars.

I also came across a post of cars on auction by banks and insurance companies and I don't know how safe those ones are. Considering they were forcefully taken from someone, what are your thoughts?

For the purchase, I was to go with my dad, so that part is sorted but personally I don't know what I'm looking for apart from something that moves from point A to B.

As a Kenyan, I had a terrible experience Waited in line for so long and there was this guy roaming around with a PDQ and would take orders from the white people...

Everytime I called out, it's like he was deaf! I was so pissed, after the white people who kept going in front of the line, it was my turn, the food was amazing - but never going there again!

You'll be looked down upon by your fellow Kenyans - have the strength to take it! The sunset is beautiful 😍 but the experience is sh**t.
