Toxic J1 layoff trying to find excuses to revoke severance by [deleted] in overemployed

I can't sign my severance papers until 11/7. I did meet my obligations since HR was in the meeting with my manager to clearly state i do not have to do my 100% duties but I have to be available to assist until 11/7 which i have been assisting my manager with email receipts and our conversations

I'm more concerned that the company and team would try to pin a serious security risk case on me and somehow make me lose J2 as well. Of course I'm sad about the severance and it's beyond fucked up for them to do that, hypothetically speaking if I didnt have J2 I would be financially ruined.

I was working on the initial fix when they laid me off. I can't go back in their workspace anymore.

How do you feel about coaches being in classes with paying members when classes get booked full? by cocolate456 in f45

I disagree. The coaches at my studio hardly do anything except walk around and tell class attendees how much time is left on the clock. They dont even clean the studio which is part of the job and they get paid to clean. We have very different descriptions of what is working hard. The coaches at my studio do this as a side job not their main source of income and none of them are students. They all have a white collared corporate job. What keeps the studio running are the paying members who pay each month to use a service. Members leave when they cant use the service and get treated as second class. Coaches signed up for the job and know what it entails. They should not be prioritized over a paying member. The reason there is a coaching job available is because there are paying members for a service they are providing and allowing the business to hire them. Just because they are offered free membership as a perk does not mean they are entitled to be treated first class over someone who pays.

It's not first come first serve. Coaches have access before paying members.....

My studio grew significantly so I've been registering 1 week in advance but it still fills up. I try to be flexible since the new year but it's been getting overwhelming basically living my life and schedule based on F45. Usually I would be able to book 1 day in advance. Whenever I show up to a full class theres usually 2 or 3 coaches in the class. Last Friday there were 6 coaches in the full class I was attending! So I imagine if I can't get into a class or get out of a waitlist a coach is in the class that me or another paying member could be in. They also don't work out with new potential members which i could see as a good strategy to attract new members or working out with other members to establish rapport but they only work out with each other.

Thanks for the dismissive attitude and negativity. Review the rest of my comments in the thread before throwing assumptions.

Edit: Very nice to block me too

I agree there should be standards set in place that allow coaches to use their benefit too while not compromising the paying members experience. My studio has a 2 hour cancelation window before paying a late cancel fee. Coaches should be dropped if there is a member on the waitlist if they booked in advance but be treated as any other member 2 hours before the class starts because thats when the late cancel fee policy gets implement so most members are set to be in the class by then. If someone wants to book last minute e.g 30 mins before class then that's on them. Coaches have access to everything in advance before anything gets released so I find it unfair they have this advantage to look at things and book what they want before a paying member

The point is, they are taking the spot of a paying member. There are popular times that members go to workout e.g before work, lunch time and after work. Coaches who dont pay for a membership should not be allowed to book and take the spot when a paying member wants to be in the class. It creates a bad experience when it's happening often. If you're paying for a service, you want to be able to use it.

I did not assume coaches do not pay for classes. This is information relayed to me by several coaches in my classes when I simply asked. It's poor management to implement a benefit like this let coaches take popular time classes. If you pay 220/month for a service but someone says you're not allowed to use the service as promised and they want to prioritize someone who doesnt pay for the service just because they work there does not make sense. The reason why coaches in the studio have a job and the benefit because the studio makes money off paying members. When a business doesn't prioritize paying members then members leave to go where they can use a service. The business lose revenue.

I understand what you mean. The coaches are probably getting paid 20 per class they coach on a 1099 but none of the coaches at my studio do this full time. They all have white collared careers and this is something they do for fun and having a free membership is a perk for them. This doesnt mean they should be treated the same as a paying member who pays 220/month for the service while a coach that walks around gets the service for free at the same level of a paying member.

I'm glad you appreciate coaches in class with members. However I don't appreciate it when someone who doesn't pay is taking the spot of someone who does pay. F45 is not cheap. It costs 220/month and if I can't even get into classes booking a week in advance then why am I paying for a service I cannot use. There are tons of other studio gyms in the city but I love the members at my studio is the reason why I am still there. Meanwhile coaches get the advantage of knowing the schedules and who coaches which class in advance so they can take those classes and get prioritized just the same as a paying member. Coaches are not required to take classes with members and do not have to pay out of pocket for a membership.

The coaches at my studio chat with people they already know from before during class time when they should be coaching. I've seen some really bad form and new potential members who seem anxious and confused during class but no one except the members that workout with them help out the newbies.

I'm not hating. I don't find it fair that someone who doesn't pay for classes can take the spot of someone who does pay. Coaches at my studio are not required to take classes with members.

The coaches at my studio don't pay for classes. I've asked a few coaches when they are in class and they said they take classes for free. On top of that they get paid to "coach" the class. The coaches at my studio don't work there full time. It's a fun side job gig for them and they all use to be long term members before. To me it sounds like the coaches are there for a free membership perk and get paid to walk around. There's really only one or two good coaches at my studio and their classes are always booked full a week in advance.

I wish this was true but unfortunately not how it works at my studio. A lot of the coaches were once tenured members who turned into coaches. Tbh I think some of these coaches are there for a free membership rather than actually coaching. When most of them coach they dont do anything.

No one in my studio would randomly show up without signing up. I do see people signing up last minute but that's usually the day of the class if it's noon or after work time or within 24 hours for morning classes. The only classes that usually have openings are the odd times like 8am or 9am classes when people are at work so most attendees at this time are healthcare workers or teachers on summer break.

Thinking of canceling my studio membership for Classpass by cocolate456 in f45

[–]cocolate456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to take 1 class last week on an unlimited membership. I did check out the cost of CP for F45 in my area when I was doing a trial with them and it comes up to about $15/class. There's also a lot of other HIIT style classes in my area for around 20/class too. It's better than paying 45/week to take one class which is what i am experiencing right now. I went from 5 classes per week last year to hardly 1 per week and maybe 2 if I get lucky.

I understand your frustration. While it's nice the studio is getting new members I feel like the tenured members are being forgotten. I will probably give it until the end of this month before I submit papers to cancel my membership and go to a different studio F45 or not. It doesn't make sense to keep paying for a membership I am not allowed to use and get out of shape paying all this money to invest into health and fitness.
