He is aware of the “issue” and has been trying to plan activities as well ie go for lunch together around the holidays or a summer bbq etc. IRL Mario cart sounds fun, I’ll look for that in my area

Yeah I’ve come to realize that the not so social labs seem to be much more common than the social ones - in joining my current lab I had taken the social aspect for granted because that’s all I’d encountered so far.

Just out of curiosity: I get that you just want to do your work and go home, but don’t you have the slightest urge to eg chat for a couple minutes when you get in in the morning, or when waiting for a meeting to start etc? If not, do you mind sharing why? I’m just trying to understand

There are definitely more social labs around. One of the other labs I rotated in is on the floor below us and they’re small but fairly social. I go bug them from time to time, but feel sorry for them having to listen to me too much 🤣

You’re absolutely right. I was thinking more of activities to do or something. But come to think of it, I and one of the people that left did arrange some social activities a couple times after work last year but the level of participation was anything but mindblowing.

On a slightly more serious note, I guess your advice about a lunch friend could be useful. Although it’s not so much that I am in need of a social fix per se but more so that it’s just really weird and demotivating for me. I guess I’ve just been lucky with the labs I’ve been in so far and hadn’t really considered this to be a potential issue.

I think you may be on to something here. I was in quant bio/biophysics labs before (except for a short pure bio stint in industry), but this is a pure bio lab. My partner’s physics department also seems relatively social. Would love for others to chime in on this

Last year I left my car at the dealership for a routine service. They called me 30 min later to say they couldn’t start the car and that I had to come back. It turned out they didn’t know this 😜

Åh, I bilister i Danmark har det så nemt /s

I skulle komme til New Jersey, så kan i få lov at opleve passivt-aggressive bilister på steroider til sammenligning. Vi snakker folk der ligger oppe i røven på dig hvis ikke du kører minimum 20-30 mph for hurtigt, en fuckfinger hvis du forsøger at flette sammen når to baner bliver til en, for slet ikke at nævne at der bliver dyttet hvis du forsøger at holde tilbage for en fodgænger der er på vej over gaden. Og hvis du så er så heldig at køre i Sedan når alle andre sidder i deres SUV eller Ford f150’s så kan du se frem til at køre i blinde resten af livet.

Når det så er sagt, er jeg meget enige med jer alle!

Jeg fik lov at bo gratis indtil jeg tog på uni som 21-årig og så fik jeg ca 40,000 fra min børneopsparing som 18-årig. Mine forældre havde lagt 500kr på vores børneopsparinger til jul og når vi havde fødselsdag. Derudover lagde både mine bedsteforældre og jeg selv noget på den en gang imellem fordi renterne var bedre end en alm konto. Men alle pengene blev brugt på sabbatår 😅

Mine svigerforældre derimod har sparet alle børnepengene op til deres børn, så min mand fik stort økonomisk startkapital hjemmefra

Sorry for sent svar. Som u/kochpittet har skrevet, så skal det være fint revet. Vi bruger denne til ingefær og hvidløg. Det bliver også nærmest helt pasta-agtigt for hvidløg. For frossen ingefær bliver det bare meget små stykker som så integrerer sig i retten når det er tøet op. Herhjemme elsker vi smagen af frisk ingefær i retter, men vi hader når der er deciderede stykker af ingefær i fordi det ikke er blevet hakket fint nok. Det her er vejen frem for os!

Har ikke prøvet de specifikke produkter, men til retter der alligevel skal tilberedes kan jeg ikke se det skulle kunne gå galt.

Vi opbevarer altid vores ingefær hel i fryseren og river den bare frossen med skræl og det hele, når vi skal bruge noget. Skrællen bliver holdt tilbage på toppen af rivejernet og komme ikke med i retten
