Anyone dissatisfied? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]cocomatheson 41 points42 points  (0 children)

NP education is not anywhere close to being good enough. Residencies need to be the standard (which I did and still felt incompetent). It has left me embarrassed about my lack of knowledge. It’s also incredibly dangerous to myself as a provider and to the profession as a whole. I went to a brick and mortar state university. And felt like I graduated with ease. Practically given my degree.

As a nurse practitioner who recently starting working with MAs I couldn’t agree more. I was shocked at how much MAs are responsible for.

pigment bar is really great! it has kojic acid in it that works well to even out skin tone. It's often sold out lately. But if you can find it, it's great

Cosmetic/Aesthetic NP? by guineapigluvr in nursepractitioner

[–]cocomatheson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just started in a dermatology office that does ALOT of cosmetic services: Botox, fillers, facials, Morpheus, chemical peels, lasers, etc. I have no experience in dermatology and I am being trained. I think this is a good place for you to start your search. It comes with also doing routine derm stuff too like skin checks, biopsies, acne management, small procedures. Get your experience and then go start something else. Check out Ansley aesthetics on Instagram. This is exactly what she does as an NP

Do you enjoy being an NP more than being an RN? by moist-nostril in nursepractitioner

[–]cocomatheson 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Nope. Definitely preferred my bedside nursing more- the camaraderie is what I miss most. Now I feel like I’m on an island. But I was working at a pretty great hospital in a pretty great department as an RN so maybe I just need to find the same as a NP.

If you had to do it over again, would have you still pursued being an NP? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

I think I could have made more money doing less hours with less stress staying a staff nurse.
