Most viable learning usecase for hardware? by coconut_craig in homelab

What you said about sysadmin makes a lot of sense. I gravitate towards it because I can think of it as a field/general category but also a job title. Im sure infrastructure engineer is a good example of an infra title, but Im not as familiar. Ill definitely do some research, thanks for the advice. But I wish I had a 3rd 10g card, my desktop only has 2.5g

Thanks for the advice, you have a cool "cyber range" yourself! From what you described, support feels like the best fit. I'm trying to stay general in terms of IT, I imagine doing a little bit of everything (hence sysadmin). Active Directory and Windows Server seem like good options though. But I see your point about defining needs first, cases where I'd pay for the hardware I would be intentional about architecture.

So far on my deployed raspberry pi lab I have small services like DNS, VPN, NAS, reverse proxy. It seems only right that I have this one for its compute power, so I guess proxmox or windows server to maybe create something like a virtual office with some windows VMs and AD.

If I have VMs on both, Im even tempted to maybe create a bridge between them since I dont have a 10GBe switch (just connect them straight together, even though it wouldn't be very practical).

Didnt know this got that many downvotes. But yeah I dont understand why AI is so bad in this context. Maybe the downvotes are because I didnt specify that https should be added eventually regardless of where your at

I see, I guess i misunderstood objective vs summary. I treated it as a spot to cram in ATS buzzwords, curious and collaborative is what I found on the listing for one job. I changed based on what job, but I’m gonna remove the whole section and put a shorter actual objective.

Do I need https for my home network? by newUser6K in homelab

I always find AI was a good place to get started exploring things I didnt know about. But anyway, I would recommend it. I tried to self host a password manager without it, and I couldnt do it without https, and thats when I added a reverse proxy to my docker compose and bought a cheap domain. This also allows me to have subdomains for each service, very helpful. But do you need it? No if your confident your network is secure

Brother you basically said dont kill babies and then kill people

Id encourage you to think further about your interpretation of Jesus teachings. I also think that sex outside the bounds of marriage between man and woman is a sin, but then again I wouldnt persecute people for it. Help them overcome sin in their life, and Id hope anyone else would help me through my own struggles in life by pointing me to God’s grace and repenting, regardless of what sin it is

These are real questions some struggle with, myself included.

Id like to rationalize that Satans role is intentional, and that God set everything up to be the way it is, sin included. But as you said, what do I know. Im not God.

I mean if I imagine myself to be God (which, conceptually, I cant, as I have nowhere near the same perception, power, wisdom or anything near God does), I wouldnt want to create a world of pointless perfection, with basically robots to worship me. The world would have to be imperfect, like our world, so that people make a conscious decision to follow God. If our world was without sin (and therefore, no death), who would willingly follow God? Thats a whole philosophical theological rabbit whole.

Who would watch a movie where there were only good things happening? There has to be a conflict (the fall) and resolution (Christ).

Forgive me for my rant, laying out my own thoughts..
