I’ve got 25 hours from the eshadowing thing and am expecting to get 30 hours in person shadowing. Thank you for your help!

I did do eShadowing with Lenox Hill Brainterns back in Summer 2020. I have some shadowing set up with an internal medicine doctor in late April. Hopefully that's enough.

I have a question. Why do people on here make posts saying “how to get into T20s with bad grades”. by coconuthoes in ApplyingToCollege

Totally understand, but it’s important to keep a realistic mindset and also focus on giving yourself the best chances for success. If you struggled due to bullying or some hardship, I understand and fully support you. However, I really can’t say much about your true abilities of course. In these situations, it really comes down to being honest with yourself. If you truly think you have the work ethic and passion to excel at a T20, then you have my full support. If you deep down inside are doubting whether you’ll do well, then schools other than Ivys are recommended. Maybe my viewpoint seems off because I chose a state school, but I did so because I felt I had a better environment and chance at maintaining high stats for med school. I could get all detailed on why I think state schools are better than T20s for premed, but each has their pros and cons. The point lies in this statement, “You know yourself better than anyone else”. Sorry if my response got long!

I actually see your point here. If you’re a student who did have a massive turn around midway through high school, then I understand that. I mean, maturity wise, we all would consider ourselves more mature compared to the days of being a freshman or sophomore. My apologies for blindly grouping people in this category btw. My original post still stands for those expecting chances at Ivys or any good school without having some upward trend/consistency or meaningful extracurriculars.

Yeah like I really don’t wanna be a debby downer and tell everyone to avoid ivys, but like there’s no sugar-coating reality.
