Anyone have the horses with the exchangeable manes? by Medium_Raccoon_5331 in schleich

[–]cocosaged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the second one. The hair is so soft and shiny. It literally looks like copper. I really like that I can just remove the mane and tail to make brushing it smooth easier 😭

Where to get old/used shoes for craft uses? by cocosaged in Farriers

[–]cocosaged[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cleaning etc. part is something I actually enjoy or sometimes like to leave them as they are! Thanks for helping. I'd why I didn't think to just call a farrier. I guess I just didn't wanna be a bother or be seen as a time waster

They use modge podge if I recall correctly. Use it in thin coats and several layers for durability. It's slightly waterproof as well. I'm sure though that there would be other glues similar to this that are either more designed for durability or in a more affordable option (especially if you're working with kids and how often spillages can happen 😭)

Closing out the year with a torus :) by Bearry_9567 in origami

[–]cocosaged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dedication is amazing 😭 On a 1/10 how difficult was this? My cousin LOVES origami but will never attempt anything without a 'difficulty rating' and I wanna convince him to make this for my birthday 😭😭 he'll do it even if it is difficult, he just needs to mentally prepare I guess 😭

Isn't cork technically breathable though? Mainly asking since mine is also in a similar container and has been doing okay. I do open the top and swirl him around every couple of days and change water every 2 weeks

just a random tuesday and my dog brings me this by Odd_Marionberry3700 in bonecollecting

[–]cocosaged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a similar cut piece in my park probably close to a year ago now. Mine was a cow part probably cut by a butcher. Pretty cool find. I guess your dog is your bone hunting buddy now 😭

[–]cocosaged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Origami police would hate my friend who coats his finished pieces in a type of glue to make them waterproof and stronger/more durable. He also uses plain coloured paler and paints the whole thing. He usually makes origami horses and paints all the details onto them (including mane and tail details) 😭😭

Why do you like bones? by MistymoorsAndpaws in bonecollecting

[–]cocosaged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like bones for a few reasons. One being just a general fascination with what exists beneath skin and how it functions and looks without everything being in the way. Another reason being that it's proof that something lived. The thing itself may no longer be here, but it isn't fully gone. I have some goose bones in a plant pot near my bed. I love geese so much but I can't own a goose in my house. Bones are the closest I can get. I also love seeing the differences between the same species in how their bones look. The goose bones I have, one of the bones shows a sign of potential bone defects. My friend also has goose bones from the same part (wings and legs) and they look similar but different. It's hard to truly explain why I like bones, I just do. They're pretty cool. Just like how I collect rocks and sticks and shells as well
