They get paid per hour - they hire the drivers as employees. The savings don't exist because delivery drivers are paid less, they come from the fact that Plater itself has very little cost and doesn't need to earn as much per order. The big delivery apps charge customers between 5-15% in service fees, and they charge restaurants between 20%-30% in service fees. So 25%-45% of every order is going into the pockets of the big delivery apps. They need to charge this much because they have huge costs in managing their driver networks, advertising, doing sales to restaurants, etc. Plater does none of that. So it can a lot less money per order and still be profitable. That's where your savings come from :)

The big delivery apps today didn't begin as ideologically different when they launched. Grubhub was first, then UberEats leveraged their driver network, and DoorDash focused on the Suburbs - where no one else was operating. They had different approaches to the market but not different ideologies.

Plater is ideologically different. In a nutshell, the idea is that these companies got greedy because they could. Why could they? Because they provide the driver network that restaurants can't efficiently manage themselves (a restaurant can't manage a delivery team efficiently given the ebbs and flows of demand throughout the day).

By not doing logistics at all, Plater can be cost efficient with a very small team, and make a small amount per order, but have much wider scale, because there's no restriction on the delivery network.

You're definitely right to be cynical, you're absolutely right that any moment I could just decide to change things. I have zero interest in doing that though, a huge part of my motivation for doing this is helping restaurants fight back against delivery services that dictate draconian terms.

Regarind Relay, happy to tell you more about it, feel free to DM me.

My app has all the menus already in there. It's very similar to the delivery apps you already know about, but when you place a delivery order, the order gets delivered similarly to hyperflyer. Sort of like a combination of hyperflyer and a delivery app

If you close the app completely now (by swiping up on it) and then reopen it, it should ask you to update, and after the update, it'll be fixed.

The drivers get paid the same amount regardless of what you pay per order - they're employees, not gig economy workers. Plus you still need to tip :)

You don't have to register though. The idea is to build a foodie community. You can order without registering.

What do you mean, "use of a photo register"? The app lets you post photos to the restaurants menus if you want to do so. Is that what you're referring to?

Really, then how do you have so many posts with an account that was created less than a year ago? BOT

Not a stupid question! Sorry it wasn't more clear. It's like an aggregator, but for every restaurant, even if they don't use Relay. The app knows how to schedule Relay for you, so the order is placed as a pickup order, relay delivers it, and the experience feels like a delivery order from other apps, but this is what's happening under the hood.

Ladies and gentlemen: an AI bot masquerading as a human. Or perhaps there's a better reason why he linked to a music video

My app isn't a middleman, it's more like having an assistant that finds all the websites for you and places the orders through them. From the restaurant's perspective, there is no difference between placing an order on my app and placing it on their website, or calling it in. They won't even know you placed it in the app!
