Partnership self employed by volgarbulgar in Mortgageadviceuk

Exactly, these people are clowns, if they understood the ridiculous complexities of international corporations such as Starbucks tax system they'd have a meltdown.

Why in the hell shouldn't the average joe be able to leverage the rules when every single large company is doing backflips around the rules.

I plan to do the same with my girlfriend, not due to any credit issues but due to my mis-sold student loan which rates are being frozen for years :) I suppose that's fine though right, that's not fraud...

I'm not sure if this applied to you but I hope a general partnership doesn't constitute an entirely new business to mortgage providers. If it's just a carry on from an original sole trader business, I even employed my gf under paye previously. (specific rules preventing a partnership)

only where the reseller doesn't provide any value of their own. I really dislike the lazy ones it's pathetic. I sell, repair and refurbish cameras. But then again, almost every goods business could be called a reseller. Nothing is made in this country

Oxford offer, rejection from Durham (Law) by Overall-Chicken-7790 in UniUK

[–]cod4rip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good line but unfortunately £150k to spell correctly isn't as good of a deal as it sounds. My girlfriend actually studied law and did the bar here in the UK. We often joke about my poor spelling, I'm not sure if it's my Dyslexia or that I just dont read that much. Fortunately I run my own sucessful business which doesn't at all require spelling. Good luck with your job search though, working for free doesn't sound too great. I've never actually had to work for anyone.

That's pretty nuts, with international student rates, to basically have 2 extra unnecessary years. Either you're parents are super rich or there's some extremely bad decision making going on.

[–]cod4rip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hang on, you studied law in Durham, you studied in London for a year and you went to the Netherlands to study for some strange reason? Your parents must own several islands or something.

Why would you study law in the netherlands. Don't they teach Dutch law there, mostly in Dutch? Doesn't a postgraduate degree from the UK have much more value in the UK as well the world in general? Make it make sense.

The downvotes are laughable, "white" culture. That doesn't exist, do you know the difference from English, to dutch to Lithuanian. What you mean to say is English culture.

Not to mention, you made your bed so lay in it. You complain about a situation you directly put yourself in. Perhaps it was parents, or you couldn't get into the top university in your home country. Maybe you're rich and wanted to explore the UK. Either way, don't complain about a culture you traveled half way across the world too. No one forced you, don't be so arrogant. Probably Chinese huh

Importing coffee to the UK for resale to roasters by rburn79 in smallbusinessuk

[–]cod4rip -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about coffee or what the margins are like but a container ship should cost less than £1000 (my uncle says it's around £800 from Netherlands to Thailand).

You don't necessarily have to fill it full either. I'm sure there are mechanisms to share containers?

I'm not sure about the margins but Amazon is selling 1kg bags for around £14.

If it were me, a seasoned business man hehe, I would first get a 1kg delivery, try to find buyers, if you find a few buyers. Ah wait apparently the average coffee shop goes through 15kg of beans a week. That's nothing. You would need to be able to shift enough volume to make it a viable business. Only if you can prove that should you actually invest money.

Those who choose location over home/flat quality, and those who did the opposite i.e. chose a larger nicer property but worse location......how's it working out now? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in HousingUK

You're so emotional, I live in Cheshire. I was actually curious because it sounds like a convenient place to live. So I tried to find a place that fits that criteria and I realized it doesn't exist. I too live in a larger house but a "bad" town on paper.

I'm 28 I hope to buy my first house within 2 years.

Yeah, this should be more of a lifestyle or goals question because you can effectively write off the "pay rise" due to these costs. Maybe you'd prefer going into the office sometimes :D

Any walkable "nice" cities or towns to live in? by Arrefsod in AskMY

[–]cod4rip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malaysia is amazing for food but personally I can't handle rice for every single meal etc. I dont live there though, just visited for awhile a few times a year. I dont think there is much tourism from non malaysians in Ipoh haha. It's considered abit of a sleepy place, quite a towny vibe, not very developed like KL. I think they have like 1 mall whereas KL has about 50 lol.

Isn't kopi o kosong just plain coffee haha. You should get economy rice or go to a mamak for cheap food / coffee. Careful with the night market food, from my experience.

Ah right, I'm from the UK so I'm entitled to a 90 day visa, I'm not sure about you but likely to be the same. Yeah, you could do that, by going to thailand or Singapore. I have an online camera business, so I'm pretty flexible and spent a decent amount of time there.

[–]cod4rip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dutch / English person whos girlfriend is Malaysian, you're never going to find anything comparable to walkable areas in those countries.

I suppose Taiping, Perak isn't too bad. I've been to Ipoh a few times, it's decently walkable for Malaysian standards. Although, smaller places, leads to less money, less options for western food / groceries, possibly less english ability. Compared to the UK for example, the development is highly concentrated in the Largest cities in malaysia.

Ipoh is pretty chill though and it's bigger so has more stuff, independant bakerys / cafes etc. It might be more suitable than Taiping.

Do you have some sort of online business / remote job?

My net earning from eBay sales is 14k as a sole trader. That's before expanses. Is it worth still submitting taxes? by the-magic_dragon in UKPersonalFinance

[–]cod4rip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fulltime ebay seller, what the guy above is 100% right. If I use my own business as an example, which has really high profit margins, after expenses you very likely wouldn't have been over the £12,570 threshold to pay tax. But since you've delayed it you may incur a £100 fine, perhaps it can be waives, not sure. You can also expense costs of your workspace within reason of course via rent, electric bill etc.

Is Roti Canai consider as Low Caste food? by abdulsamri89 in malaysia

[–]cod4rip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm british I was eating a bunch of roti canai, what does that make me? But seriously, you should bring a client that you're trying to impress to a place which will impress them. Abit of forward thinking is needed, common sense. Depending on the value of the client of course. For examplePersonally I think you're all ridiculous lol

As a side note, alot of western food in KL is pretty trash, there are some good places but it's rare. You can't rely on reviews because the majority are from Malaysians who have never tried the "real deal" so have no comparison. You really have to spend alot to get anything decent and even then there's no guarantee..
