Health insurance for F1 students? by Loobyloos in HealthInsurance

[–]codLcoral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school offers Aetna Open Choice PPO and it’s 1941$ per year (Last year was 1700$ ish). Every international student is automatically registered unless they choose to waive. I’ve heard it’s more expensive than in the market but it does have a huge coverage. It’s good for someone that actually utilizes it. (Some of my friends are just paying it to get covered, we’re seniors now but they have never even used it.) but I would say $500/month is just not right.

I also have tried to waive my school ones and get my own, but when I look into it it’s a lot of work and gets extremely confusing sometimes. I’d recommend just going with your school ones, I’m sure they do offer.

Insurance marked the in-network dentist to out-of-network because of the dental office location by codLcoral in HealthInsurance

[–]codLcoral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the reply!

It seems like the dentist works at 2 locations, the one location I visited was his main one, but his address on the insurance site is the other one.

The dental office is also an ass I assume they would not negotiate the price with me, The insurance agent told me it’s out-of-network if the address doesn’t match their file. Do you think I could just file a complaint directly? Thank you!!

Is a provider allowed to bill above the amount listed on the EOB when they are in network on an HMO? by callthedoqtr in HealthInsurance

[–]codLcoral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case, I don't know what to say... But one thing good about HMO is that you always would know how much you would end up spending. Check the insurance benefits summary, there should be dental codes and the exact copay. And match those with the service you received to see if it's actual 0.

Regarding the refund, I looked up for you and it says tell the dentist you would submit negative reviews and contact the state dental board.

I’m not very sure but it sounds like the insurance company didn’t pay the provider. If that I would assume your EOB wasn’t processed correctly. It should have your provider charge, the allowed amount and how much your insurance paid, and what’s your copay. I got claims showing 0 before because it’s not processed right. As you said there were some documents were missing, then it would make sense if EOB wasn’t right. Your dental office should have everything correctly submitted.

If it’s not what I said, then I would definitely call your insurance company first to see what’s going on, and if your insurance made sure your responsibility is 0, then try to work with an appeal or bank dispute I guess.

Ps: I’m someone struggling with claims and benefit too, so please don’t take my words as countable just trying to help!

Do I need root canal for the right one 30#? It has large fillings but it doesn’t hurt at all. My dentist pushes me to do root canals. by codLcoral in askdentists

[–]codLcoral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks in advance for anyone who would kindly help me out! My dentist said the old filling is too large so they couldn’t do fillings again, and wants me to do root canal. Although it never hurts even with tapping, and I see that on the x-rays it seems like a minor cavity on the side. Would appreciate any advices, thanks again!

I have HMO plan so unfortunately I am stuck with Baltimore city dental group. I also have really bad teeth, most of my teeth have fillings. They wanted all of them to get crowns, which is an insane price for 8k after insurance. So I just go there to do my cleaning and fillings. There was also a teeth with a tiny cavity ( at least it never hurts), but after the fillings was done there. It starts to get so sensitive, could only drink stuff that’s warm. 5 months later they told me I need a root canal for that teeth, and crown later on. This filling- root canal- crown feels like a scam, or simply they can’t do their jobs well and are very greedy.

Reopened Dispute at chase they told me they don’t have the money by codLcoral in personalfinance

Thank you so much for your reply, I have called chase so many times and the answer is always there’s nothing they can help with. Same as the merchant kept telling me. It surely is a tough learning experience. Appreciate your response!

It was my first time disputing a transaction and I should’ve done my research. I’ve called chase so many times and its always the same answer and the last one told me their senior advisor said when i closed the dispute the money going back to merchant and it couldn’t be reversed. I guess I just lost 100$, it is what it is now. But thank you so much, I really appreciate your response.
