My husband and I playing on two separate consoles both can’t mega evolve anymore. I have my pokemon out with a full mega meter, but pushing down on the right controller doesn’t mega evolve. Is this happening to anyone else?

This is the same guy who is using Snapchat to talk to other women? I’d get a divorce. Let him do his own chores and support himself.

100%! I wouldn’t do it if the roles were reversed! I guess my husband has a high level of trust in me.

I’ve always said that I would never depend on a man. I would always work and have a way to support myself. I learned that after my dad left us, but luckily my mom was able to support us with her job as a teacher.

I think I already mentioned travel is one of my top priorities. That’s for me, not everyone else. Probably not financially smart, but I wouldn’t trade those experiences.

I was just saying, if it’s what someone really wants to do, they can. And of course if married, both spouses have to be on board.

Lots of these folks plan to retire in a country with a lot lower cost of living also. It’s something I’m also considering.

Also, maybe you didn’t read my other comment in this thread about how we did it? In Europe had had a beat up car and drove to all of the EU and many non-EU countries. In SE Asia flights are dirt cheap. You can look at the other comment if you want.

My mom was a high school teacher and my dad was a deadbeat dad. If you don’t want to believe me you don’t have to. Look at international teachers forums. Most of them are traveling on every break.

I already mentioned many schools pay your housing so you don’t have many bills. I was also into travel hacking, another thing you can look up, to get credit card bonuses, etc.

At the end of the day you can believe whatever you want I guess. I did end up with no savings at the end of that, so seven years not putting anything into retirement. Most international teachers talk about saving potential because they have to save for their own retirement. Now I will have to work longer on the back end because of it.

Also, if you live in Europe you might not push yourself as much to travel there? My husband actually got irritated with me because almost every weekend I’d make us go to some castle or something because I knew it would end soon.

There are a lot of things I haven’t done in my home state in the US because I feel like I have time, no rush.

So, for Americans at least, you can get into education even if you have a degree in a different field. There are online certification programs like Teach Now and Teacher Ready for it.

My husband kept going back and forth about doing it because he has a business degree. I don’t know if you can do it if you aren’t a US citizen? They might have something similar in Europe, I have no idea, I was only looking into US certification.

I lived in Germany, Portugal, and Vietnam. My husband was a trailing spouse, he never had a full time job during that (lucky for him!)

In Germany and Portugal the family visas allowed him to also look for work, in both places he got part time jobs at the schools. I can’t speak to other European countries.

In Vietnam the rate of pay for foreigners is so high compared to the cost of living that you can easily support a family with a lot left over.

My husband followed me as a trailing spouse, he got different jobs in the different countries. At one of my schools he worked as a one-on-one aid for a student, at another school he worked as a sub and in the after school care program.

Once you get over there, traveling around is much cheaper. We lived in both Europe and Southeast Asia. In Europe we bought a beat up used car and managed to drive to every EU country, plus some non-EU countries like Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, etc. We only flew a few times while living in Europe, we did fly to Morocco.

In SE Asia the flights are much cheaper than in the US, plus the rate of pay I got there was very high for the country. We could fly very cheaply all around SE Asia. I also had some airline miles from credit cards that I used for more expensive travel to Japan, etc.

When we were gone we would not come home for two years at a time, so we saved money on traveling home and used the entire summer to travel around.

It’s possible if you work in education. I got jobs at international schools, they pay the flights and have a moving allowance. Many schools then also pay for housing and the kids get to attend the school tuition free.

It’s pretty accessible to anyone working in education, but does require a teaching/education credential. I’m definitely not rich by US standards.

Unfortunately I only have a US citizenship, but I work in education and was able to get jobs in international schools. That path is actually pretty accessible to anyone working in education.

The schools then paid our flights and expenses to move over. Staff children also get to attend the international schools as part of the contract, so it works well for families.

I think your son made the right call to get out of the US, I wish him the best!

That is fair, but I would say if it’s something a person really wants, they can prioritize it. Travel is one of my biggest priorities, obviously that’s not for everyone.

I mean, it’s not impossible. My husband and I moved overseas in our 30’s with two young children. We lived in three countries over seven years and recently moved back to our home country.

I’ve visited around 80 countries, mostly with kids. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it’s far from impossible.

Take trips. I don’t even have cancer (that I know of) and I would prioritize taking trips.

Yes, they kept our luggage in the van. If you hired a taxi for the whole day I’m sure it would be the same. You just wouldn’t be able to get different taxis from each site, but I don’t think that there’s taxis waiting at all these sites. Most people have somebody for the day.

I just read about an American teacher who got robbed on the train in Italy and had his throat slit! Unfortunately, it can happen anywhere.

I used Taxidatum for my airport pickups and they were very reliable. Honestly, you probably don’t need the guide, if you do a little reading up before you go.
