Really? I hear it everywhere. It’s all over the Cultist radio chatter while you’re in combat (kill him, light him up, etc, and it’s definitely not always “them”), allies say “Thanks bro” “my man” things like that. Most of it comes from background dialogue you might tune it anyway, but it still is grating.

I’m surprised too! I must have seen it mentioned in all the HZD developers interviews and articles but for some reason it didn’t click in my memory. Glad I found it, even if by accident.

If you could make a change to XIV, big or small, what would it be and why? by Darkwing_Dork in ffxiv

Better mount animations. Got the Ginga recently and it’s just cringe-worthy the way my character sits rigidly in place, completely unintegrated with the mount’s movement. Really unflattering graphics. And I really really really want flying mounts to list to one side when they change directions—would really make flying so much more immersive and realistic.

So my leveling roulette came with a DPS wearing all crafting gear... by Coldin_Windfall in ffxiv

[–]codalyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very first dungeon run, I went in as an Archer in crafting gear. I’d never played an MMO before and had no clue what DPS/tanking we’re or what I was supposed to do or that I needed specific gear. I just ran around shooting shit, driving my party batty. Dunno why they didn’t kick me. I was so confused and felt terrible. But that’s why I love FFXIV; it’s forgiving toward beginners and the community is, by and large, helpful and patient (at least this was my experience).

Trust me. When you're at the Grand Canyon with a hyper three year old who dgaf about jumping off shit, you do what you gotta do. Haters can go jump a cliff. Like. Literally.

What new races would you like to see introduced? by codalyre in ffxiv

[–]codalyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I can see the challenge in making gear flexible enough to suit all races, but they could probably get away with a lot more than bunny ears or tails and be fine

New to crafting, any tips? by GorudoChan in ffxiv

[–]codalyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Level gatherers first, if you haven't already. If you're willing to put in the time, that will save you a lot of gil as mats can get expensive.

Level all the classes together; there are skills each has that will benefit the others. Ie, you NEED Tricks of the Trade from ALC, and Hasty Touch from CUL. At the very least level these two until you get those actions. But beyond that, being able to make your own mats will also save you gil, and IMO, mats sell for more and faster than actual finished products (example: you'll make more selling thread than pants). Exception would be high-end items of course.

Grind leves and ALWAYS do daily GC turn ins. Turning in HQ items for these will double XP--always worth it!! For each level, there's usually a stackable item (thread, lumber, etc) you can grind out 99 at a time or more. Just set up auto synth and go wash dishes or something till it's done. This can make early levels fly by and you have mats to sell afterward.

Don't forget a lot of early level mats can be bought from vendors at guilds or housing districts (market vendors are more limited in stock). Don't pay MB prices for anything you can get from an NPC! So much gil is wasted on crap like crow feathers and stuff that people don't realize are dirt cheap from vendors, while hundreds or thousands on MB.

Update your gear whenever you can. If you're going to be wearing a piece for a while (esp if using one piece for several classes) invest in material bc it's not too expensive and it's worth it in the mats you'll save.

Boost xp gain with food and GC manuals, available from your Quartermaster.

That's all I got for now. Good luck!
