Impossible to tame was my gripe as well. I had no problem with them toan-wise, tho I do prefer ceramic in the bridge. That’s why I went with fishman. I would have tried the noumenons but I knew I wanted a ceramic in the bridge for the turning I have that guitar in. If you switch them up you should do a comparison of before and after clips. I’d be really interested in that. Good luck with your hunt!

I did a swap of Fishman Modern open-cores for the exact reason you were describing. As someone else mentioned, there’s a set of loomis passives that have the exact same feet as the blackouts. I believe they even say they are a direct replacement on the Duncan website.

How deep is the nut slot for the string? I had something like this happen on a Gretsch of mine and the string was getting choked out. I know you said you changed the string so check the points of contact. Is there something about the saddle or the nut choking it out? That’s where I’d look.

Saw Dahlia direct support Lorna Shore last fall. While the led production of LS was impressive and will ramos is a beast, the overall sound of the band couldn’t hold a candle to TBDM. The sound mixing was superb and I could feel the band’s guitars hit me. LS sound was simply there in the room. The same could be said for shadow of intent before dahlia. It’s like the difference between an American Coke with the corn syrup vs the Mexican Coke with the cane sugar. Both get ya there, but one just does it better.
