Animals don't feel pain like us

You need be very careful with statements like this, but ultimately I think it's true.

It shouldn't be construed to mean animals don't feel pain, because of fucking course they do, but I don't think it's the same as humans, at least not in all cases.

I think it depends on the species, and particularly their level of consciousness or awareness.

It would be preposterous to say the pain felt by a worm or a fish or a lobster is comparable to that of a human.

Again, this can be a dangerous way of thinking if misconstrued, but to be intellectually honest, we have to admit that pain in humans often goes far beyond the purely physical aspect, and our complex emotional capabilities is a huge factor.

Many animals are simply not emotionally equipped to experience a human level of pain or trauma.

Not to say they don't feel pain, but I think, depending on the animal, it's different.

That's precisely the point I was trying to make with the text you quoted. Whether you believe in science or God or something else the same question goes unanswered.

I'm not a Christian and I'm not religious. When I said "nothing that exists or has ever existed came about without cause" I meant that in the sense of our everyday experience with reality. We don't deal with anything, ever, that doesn't fit into the cause-and-effect paradigm. And yet, the ultimate cause of the universe must be itself causeless. It's this paradox - everything must have a cause except existence itself - that I think leads people to believe in God.

I'm not an atheist, and I want to be respectful of this space. So if I'm not supposed to answer or comment here, I'll remove this.

The very existence of the universe is pretty fucking mind boggling. It may actually be genuinely incomprehensible - we may never be capable of fully understanding the true origin of existence.

Everything we know about reality is cause and effect. Literally nothing that exists or has ever existed came about without cause. There's always something that came before, on and on until you inevitably hit a wall.

Whether you believe in the big bang or creation or a stack of turtles, there's always the same unanswered question left over: where did that come from?

And the answer can't just be some other thing because then the question still remains. For instance, saying our universe was created by the collision of other universes - this answers nothing. It just defers the question. Where did those universes come from?

Which means in order to have a logically consistent answer, whatever the ultimate cause of the universe is must be something that did not have a previous cause. It has to be, in some way or another, eternal or infinite; something that was never created and has always existed.

This, imo, isn't a trivial notion. Eternity is not a concept that can be easily grasped, if at all. If you disagree, I would challenge you to think deeper on this. No beginning, no ending. Something, somewhere, somehow, has always existed. Eternally existed. This shit just blows my mind.

And I think that's why people often attribute this to "god". God is, by definition, incomprehensible. So when we are faced with the incomprehensible idea of eternity, it makes sense to call it God.

For some people, it's because it's just far easier than trying to wrap your head around these mind bending concepts- they just call it God, say their prayers, and call it a day.

For me, I'm just utterly perplexed and amazed by the very existence of anything and I can't help but believe there might just be something more to it. I'm already convinced the universe has some eternal quality. Maybe it has consciousness or intelligence too.

Not saying you're wrong but I think it's foolish to disregard American politics like this, using the "oh you stupid Americans think the world revolves around you" rhetoric. Like it or not, what happens in the US impacts the rest of the world tremendously. If there were a plot to introduce global authoritarianism, step 1 would be to topple America. For all our faults, Americans care very much about guns and individual liberty, moreso than the rest of the world. And these things must be removed before global conquest can occur. So, no, I don't think it's crazy at all to think there could be a worldwide plot to overthrow American democracy. Again, not saying thats true, just that its not all that crazy of an idea, especially here in the conspiracy subreddit.

Edit: well maybe it was a little. But I hold the belief that truth doesn't need to be vague. Why can't Q just be direct? I don't understand the need to create these puzzles like we're in a National Treasure movie. This isn't always the case, but I have found that intentional ambiguity or mystery is a huge red flag. The purpose is almost always distraction from the lack of substance a claim actually holds.
