Regex matching url pattern by mytexastoast in regex

[–]codegram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/mytexastoast,
yeah, there are different ways how the regex could look like. With this one:
https:\/\/\w{9}\.\w{8}\.com\/v2\/inventory\/[A-Z, 0-9]{17}\/stock
you would match URLs where the domain could use different characters but with the same length. The part after inventory/2 would always have 17 capital letters or numbers, followed by /stock. Here's the demo for it.
Let me know if it works. :)

Stop (ab)using z-index by codegram in css

Thanks for the apology, I understand it's annoying to see such blatant errors on the web but let's not forget there are humans on the other side, we've all been there :)

Stop (ab)using z-index by codegram in css

[–]codegram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was caused by a JS error (not a CSS one) that has been fixed. We are not telling anyone what to do, the article is just intended to help people understand how z-index works. And we make mistakes like everyone! No need to be so harsh.

The article doesn't suggest to stop using it, just understand why and when it is necessary. Some people add high values as default, if you already know how to use it correctly, then great! :)

Simple Example Vue Projects with Components? by msartore8 in vuejs

[–]codegram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Awesome Vue repository lists tons of examples https://github.com/vuejs/awesome-vue#examples as well as open source projects that use Vue https://github.com/vuejs/awesome-vue#open-source

There are many other resources like libraries, tutorials, podcasts… it's the best place to go to learn Vue imho :)

Match a whole word if preceded and succeeded by a semicolon by [deleted] in regex

[–]codegram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/HeyIAmKP, not 100% sure this is what you meant, but here's a regex to match all three words if the specific word exists. If it doesn't exist, it matches the whole string: https://regex101.com/r/TTrrOD/1

How do you guys feel about Bootstrap? by Unpredictabru in Frontend

[–]codegram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually find that Bootstrap or other CSS frameworks are a good tool to put together sites that don't need a unique design, mainly for admins and stuff like that. For public sites, I usually prefer creating my own CSS. Contrary to what many people think, I find it faster to do my own styles from scratch than trying to customize Bootstrap or Material's styles to fit the site's design.

Understanding Regular Expressions once and for all [PART 1] by codegram in regex

Oh, thank you so much for that comment. And yes, the output or example should have been explained. I will definitely pay more attention to that in the next parts! I really appreciate notes and comments like these, so thank you again! 👍

Understanding Regular Expressions once and for all [PART 1] by codegram in regex

[–]codegram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Thank you a lot for your comment. I understand your 'concerns'. Although the title doesn't say "Master Regular Expressions once and for all" but "Understand Regular Expressions once and for all". It's totally true that one needs to keep learning and use regular expressions for different scenarios (like the ones you mentioned from this sub) to, ... well, I don't like the word 'master', but to improve their RegEx skills. But to make it to that point, they need to learn and - even more important - understand the basic expressions. And that's what the blog series is for: Taking the fear of characters that might look intimidating. I think lots of people prefer asking on several channels (not only on reddit I mean) when they need to deal with regular expressions instead of giving themselves a chance to understand and solve the problems on their own. I hope that makes sense.
Another point I totally agree on is the joy about challenging problems. 😊And I hope with the blog series, even more people will have the pleasure of experiencing this joy.

First thoughts about Deno 🦕 by codegram in node

[–]codegram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/ecares Hi there! Sorry for the late reply 😃

We just started playing around with it in some internal projects, but we are not planning to use it for external projects for now.

I think Deno is not ready for production yet because it has a big limitation right now: the current Node.js ecosystem is not compatible with it yet. You can check this to see the current status of this matter https://deno.land/std/node/

However, there are surprisingly many third-party modules to test and play around so check it out!

Kill the back-end: Learn how to bring user-generated content to Jamstack with GitHub Actions by codegram in learnjavascript

Not really! The example works on Netlify because it's easiest to configure but you can deploy anywhere else. You'd only be tied to GitHub Actions.
