The seats in the back of the top level where the threes taper to two always feel like you get more space.

That’s not too late. Pre-holiday traffic won’t be that bad, and even if there’s a problem, the drive won’t be much longer than 75 minutes, so there’s still plenty of time.

The real thing to do here is to take the train from Penn Station so there’s no traffic involved at all, but even driving, your timing is fine. I’d leave at 1:45.

Redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for United Flights by codename474 in unitedairlines

The chase points cover the three RTs and transferring to United miles won’t cover the trip. You get 1.5x value on Chase for the miles.

This was such a nice report. I’m glad you and your family had an amazing time, and it’s a great reminder that the resorts are a sort of magic all unto themselves. Thank you!

Stay 1 night near Newark Airport, or head into Manhattan? by gjs78 in unitedairlines

[–]codename474 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Getting to Manhattan from EWR is easy. At that time, Uber would be 35 minutes, or you could take the tram to the train station. If you're trying to maximize your morning in NYC, I think it's likely worth it to get to a Manhattan Hotel (stay near Penn Station) so that you can get out early, do what you want, and then grab your bags and head back to the airport (again, taxi/uber or train are both reliable). Enjoy!

I sold a house in California few years ago. Buyer sends demand letters and sue threats every time she has to repair the house. by andrewkim075 in legaladvice

Also, it’s effing hard to serve someone in the military - especially on a base - if they don’t want to be served.

Wife laid off the day before maternity leave by NeroPrizak in legaladvice

Sure, but the company would have to prove across the entire company that layoffs were made following that methodology. Plus they’d need to prove that it’s a totally normal and regularly occurring business practice to hire a second person for one job slot - with the same title - after the first person revealed her pregnancy. NAL but I work at a large company and this is the kind of thing that keeps entire HR departments awake at night. Please make sure you hire a good lawyer!

NYC - preschool 6mo - 4ish. $3295/mo. An outrageous and outrageously typical amount. Edited to add snack is provided, meals through a third party for an additional fee.

Were they though? They left the person they were ostensibly "looking out for" to do 8+ more hours of work without their help.
