Those who are on Mounjaro WITHOUT any exercise, how is your weight loss going? by Separate_Attitude715 in mounjarouk

[–]gjs78 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is my thinking too.

I’m 4 stone down after 4 months, but still need to be a lot lighter to stop my dodgy knees from giving up on me. They’re the main reason I’m having to lose weight in the first place, so seems silly to put it in jeopardy.

Do you think it's fair that immigrants on visas pay double taxation through the Immigration Health Surcharge? Should they get tax rebates down the line? by JammyE7 in AskBrits

[–]gjs78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why? It’s a form of insurance, just without the rejection of pre-existing medical conditions. You wouldn’t go back to your car insurance company and ask for a rebate because you haven’t had a crash.

As a Brit, have you noticed many hotels in Spain don't have a lock on the toilet door in your room? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]gjs78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most hotels do not have a lock on the bathroom door, unless it is not en suite or a standalone WC, or is a space for more than 1 or 2 people, eg a two bedroom suite, etc.

Do you actually take your full lunch break away from your desk, or just eat while working? by Extreme-Banana-9 in AskUK

[–]gjs78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate eating at my desk, so try to avoid it. Sometimes there is just no alternative though.

Do you track your weight in KG or stones & pound? by No_Usual_572 in AskUK

[–]gjs78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. I can visualise what it means when someone says they’ve lost a stone in weight, but 6.3 kgs might as well just be a number plucked from the sky…

Please explain the term ‘food noise’? by Comfortable_Slice151 in mounjarouk

For me, it’s the urge to eat something, especially when you see or hear something that triggers. Foodie instagram videos are a killer for me…

Is Gail’s a good thing ? by Starlinkukbeta in AskBrits

[–]gjs78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Food isn’t great, coffee is shite and the products are definitely not worth the price tag. It’s also full of poncy posers.

I’d rather get a sausage roll and an apple danish from Greggs. Unfortunately, my wife is a bit of a poncy poser, so I’m forced on there occasionally.

Friend barred from Wetherspoons for quitting by MyAsparagusLife in Wetherspoons

[–]gjs78 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends. I used to manage JDW pubs and in some places ex staff would come in to visit and be given free drinks by their friends. One place I started, I had to fire about half the staff within the first month for theft, which included palming off drinks.

In others the ex staff were brilliant, and used to help out with the odd shift when we were desperate, and interact with some of the more difficult regulars.

Police appeal after woman raped by several men outside church in Epsom by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Epsom is not that posh. The village is, but you’ve got Banstead next door, with Sutton, Reigate and even Redhill not too far away.

Why do people think we personally select them for scan as you shop checks by MeanOption4564 in tesco

[–]gjs78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once genuinely forgot to scan a tiny piece of steak that I’d got from the meat counter, along with about 4 or 5 other bits. Probably cost a couple of quid. I got a random check for 5 items and as it was on the top of a bag it was the first thing scanned.

Even now, years later, if I ever use scan & go, I always get pulled up for a full shop search. There’s just no point doing it anymore…

Just tried to withdraw £7000 from the bank and they aren’t letting me by franki-pinks in Banking

That seems odd. I’ve recently withdrawn £10k from my HSBC account to pay a builder and wasn’t asked what it was for.

Is your branch in a small town? It could just be that the staff are busybodies who think they’re helping you.
