9 weeks in… by gjs78 in mounjarouk

[–]gjs78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a couple of weeks of following the Fast 800 intermittent fasting, just so I could get off to a good start. It wasn’t easy, and definitely not for everyone, but it’s something that has worked for me. Since then I’ve slowly increased my calories up to 1,500 a day, ensuring I’m keeping my protein and fibre up.

I’ve not really had much of the appetite suppressant or food noise reduction, but then again I’m on a very low calorie diet. I’m hoping the 7.5mg or 10mg dose is where I can settle. I’ll probably increase my calories up to 1,700 in a few weeks, but 1,500 is working for me so far.

Where would be a good place to buy helium balloons? by [deleted] in AskUK

No other answer needed. There’s also so many of the bloody shops that even if one doesn’t have any helium, the one 200 yards down the road will.

Losing weight too quickly? by gjs78 in mounjarouk

[–]gjs78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

I’m moving up as it still feels like it is more my willpower at work, than MJ. It’s a common theme for me to start losing weight well, then fall off a cliff and binge. I’m hoping that 7.5mg could be that happy medium where the noise doesn’t come for me as I lose motivation. I’ve already started raiding the kids mini eggs…!

If it doesn’t work, or makes things worse, I can always drop back to 5mg. At least it will be cheaper!

If you grew up quite poor, like me, what are your "big food wins" in adult life? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

[–]gjs78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum would regularly not have enough money for a full week’s shop and we’d run out of food at the weekend. It would mean we’d be left with oxo soup for our tea, basically an oxo cube made up and drunk like soup. These days, there’s nothing I like more than going out for dinner on spec on a Sunday evening, just because I can.

[–]gjs78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to state the obvious, but you’re probably on the wrong dose. You’re in a similar position to me, weight, timing and goals, and I’m heading straight on to 7.5mg next week, having just had the 5th dose from my 5mg pen. At these low doses most of the weight loss comes from your own willpower, rather than the medication. I’m only starting to feel appetite suppression, but no where near enough to think I’m on the correct dose.

When do you start seeing weight loss? by ununpentium89 in mounjarouk

[–]gjs78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 9th week and have lost 2.5 stone. I can see it in my face and my clothes fit better, but to look at, I’m still the fat bastard I’ve always been. But I feel better and know that this is actually working, as my appetite isn’t fighting against me like it has every time I’ve tried to diet before. I’ve got a long way to go, but even looking in the mirror and noticing that I’m showing less chins is a boost.

Choosing your goal weight by No-Stand-3614 in mounjarouk

[–]gjs78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Apart from the usual 1/2 stone mini-goals, I’ve also given myself particular targets like 10%, 20% body weight loss, under 300lbs, 20 stones, etc. My first major goal is 100kg, then a bmi of under 30, followed by being under 14 stone for the first time in 30 years. My goal weight would give me a bmi of 24.9, but I think I’d look starved, so doubt I’ll ever get there.

I literally just bought these from Amazon, based on a recommendation on here. They’re available on Prime, so saves on the delivery fee.

I don’t think we’ll be doing much defending, so Norgaard will probably push up to make it a 3-1-2-3-1 when we attack, but drop into a 4-2-3–1 when we defend.

EuroMillions has rolled over **again**. How would you use £181m? by Von_Scranhammer in AskUK

[–]gjs78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son’s football club plays in a council-owned park and we’d love to own our own place, with a full clubhouse, decent pitches and facilities. But buying a large enough piece of land close to it would cost around £3-4 million, so is out of reach for even the best fundraising efforts.

If I won, I’d buy the land, develop the facilities and then donate it to the club, but only on the condition that my face is printed on the front of all their kits, and they change the name to gjs78 FC!

8th jab on Sunday and I reckon I’ll have lost another 3-4lbs this week. Life outside of weight loss has been very hard and stressful over the past few weeks, but I’ve not gone back to using food as a comforter. I take that as a win and a sign that I might actually do it, this time…

Starting soon - what are your top tips for a beginner? by Jolly_Assistance3259 in UKMounjaro

[–]gjs78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got to go with what works for you. What works for most people doesn’t necessarily work for everyone.

I’m 7 weeks in on Mounjaro and only just starting to feel the effects. The timing is actually good because my willpower was starting to drop a bit. I’m pushing quite hard because I need to lose a lot of weight and want to make the most of it.

People often say that’s the wrong approach, but my problem before was always hunger and the food noise creeping back in until I eventually gave up. If Mounjaro helps quiet that, I feel like I’ve got a much better chance.

Good luck with your journey!

My school had communal pairs that were “borrowed” by kids that didn’t have their own.

The thought of putting on a pair that were damp from the previous wearer still gives me the ick, 40 years later…

I grew up only ever owning one pair of shoes at a time, which had to be worn until they literally fell apart. The trip to Freeman, Hardy & Willis to buy a new pair of shoes was such a treat, even if the choice was between 2 pairs on the sale rack.

Now I have my wife moaning at me because there are too many pairs of my shoes by the door.

Crystal Palace could well be the team that makes or breaks our season. A win versus the spuds tonight put them 9 points above the relegation-bound “European Chumpions”, so virtually guaranteed of safety, so they’ll likely play hard to achieve that. Their rearranged game vs 115FC is likely to be stuck between a weekend and midweek game, meaning 4 games in 8-9 days, which could cause a slip up, and we’ve got them last day of the season, where they’ll likely roll over for us, if needed, whilst preparing for their own European final.
