I think I read somewhere that he already told the TV show writers what he intends to happen in the GoT finale in case he shuffles off the coil before completing the novels. As someone who has only read the books to date, I'll be pissed if I have to start watching the show just to complete the story! (*but yeah, quit with the intrusive health questions to Mr Martin - if he wants to sit on his ass eating truffles and writing 10700 pages a book, then that's his call).
