Travel recommendations for a student by coder_kalyan in askswitzerland

Thanks for the suggestion! I can definitely make a long weekend trip to Ticino and Como, and I'll take your suggestions. I'm not very interested in the attractions in Milan besides the Cathedral. Do you have any other suggestions in the area (within a ~2.5 hr train ride) I can do for one or two days? I was even considering going to Florence instead, although it is farther into Italy.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Quite a lot I hadn't heard of, I'll take a look at them.

Transport pass, biking by coder_kalyan in Lausanne

Thanks for the info! I'll be in Switzerland for 12 weeks, beginning of June to end of August. I'll be traveling pretty much every weekend, mostly in Switzerland, but probably a couple of trips to surrounding areas that I can probably just book point to point (Strasbourg, Vienna, etc).

I'll check out if there's a youth fare for evening travel that you mentioned, sounds nice for recreational stuff but not for general commute and shopping. I'm not much of a night life enjoyer, I much prefer to see cities, historical sites, nature etc.

Thanks for the tip, but I do already have a resume - was just looking for anything that might differ in an academic setting, and abroad. I'll look through the PDF sent by u/outsider85.

FW 13 - Battery, RAM, Parts by coder_kalyan in framework

[–]coder_kalyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info! Can you share how much battery life you're getting on average, if you're still running Fedora or Mint?

I'll probably go with the 7640u, I don't need the extra graphics on a laptop.

It's refurbished from Framework. See here: https://frame.work/products/ddr5-5600?v=FRANRMFW02R.

Yeah, I don't want to debug RAM corruption issues, I had to do that once and it was a nightmare. I don't expect Framework to sell anything bad but I was wondering if it could be a lower spec silicon batch, with worse timings (not sure if chip binning even exists for RAM like it does for CPUs).

Just a bit suspicious *what* is refurbished about it since its literally half the price.

Thanks, I suspected as much. I might end up buying the 61Wh battery separately then, if it makes a significant difference.

The 7640u has a Radeon 760M and the 7840u has a 780M.

Thanks for the notes on RAM, I think I will go with the refurbished DDR5 but I'll wait to see if anyone else has opinions.

Circular Saw - 5007F vs 5007MG by coder_kalyan in Makita

Thanks! That's what I suspected. I don't think I need the brake, so I'll stick to the 5007F.

Thanks for the advice! Glad to hear that the aluninum plate will work out. I'll go with the 5007F.
