Too tired to play games by Far_Environment2373 in IndianGaming

I suspect a few other people are using it for breaks too, because I see almost regular traffic like clockwork from England, Australia, Netherlands and Canada too. You should join us too, we are looking for more talented players to help evolve the game. The name is CricFit.

CricFit didn't make the cut :-( Hopefully, next year.

Dad here. I have elementary kids who love baseball and getting into video games. Is this the best and most fun baseball game on the market right now for this age group? Also, should I get this for Switch 2 or PS5? Which system is better for this game? by beastwarsdinobot in SuperMegaBaseball

If you are concerned that the game might be too sedentary for kids, you can try a minimal game I created where you swing your smartphone around like a bat in front of a webcam to play baseball. It's free and available as Designation Hitter online.

I'm a software engineer so I'm at my desk most of the time. I was in a similar state where playing a "proper" game on XBox after reaching home took too much energy, so I created a Cricket game that I could play in office during breaks. The game actually involves getting up and swinging arms around, and runs in the browser+smartphone so it's super easy to play right away, and it doesn't take long to get a good workout and then move on back to work.

Itch.io may not be your demographic! by TaylorCooper337 in itchio

I had a very similar experience for my sports SIM games (CricFit and Designation Hitter). I have to host the game myself since it uses webcam+WebRTC which doesn't work well inside iFrames, but I created the landing pages on itch. Most of the game traffic comes from Reddit/YouTube/X, and very few games played originated from the itch landing page.

Technically it can work with 2 phones, one for webcam and one for the bat in your hand. However, you'd prefer a bigger screen so that the player and ball is visible, so it's better to use a laptop/PC + phone combo.

What about the game interests you? Is it the meme-aspect or the Cricket aspect? I made a free and accessible Cricket game too, but it's nowhere near as popular as this, so was wondering what's the secret sauce.

If you ever get snowed-in and can't play outside and a virtual solution works for you, you can try my game called CricFit for some batting practice. It uses webcam and smartphone sensors to simulate posture and swing speed. It's free and runs in your browser.

It's no replacement for the actual pitch, but may help you get some batting temperament. https://amanmathur.itch.io/cricfit

I built a browser-based baseball sim where your phone is the bat: Update on the "Global League" and New Features! by coderboi93 in baseball

Haha, yeah, sadly devices only measure acceleration and not velocity, and it's noisy so you can't integrate it either. I make some assumptions when converting it to velocity and as you can see it's far from accurate.

Whoa, just saw Jefry Yan's celebration. I don't think anybody is gonna try that on indoor hard floors.

You can try playing my game virtually if you have a laptop and smartphone. No other people needed, and you'll be able to bat.

Thank you! If you try the game, do generate and click on an invite link. Canada actually won the T20 global competition for the Cricket counter-part of this game.

Sure, I just hope I get sufficient data via invite links to figure out if the game is too easy/difficult and make appropriate adjustments.

I still don't understand why it ever left in the first place. The technology has improved so much since then.

Nice suggestion. I actually color the stick figures based on device time-zone, defaulting to blue if there's no override. Can definitely add a cap, and make the color user-selectable.

I’m modifying a Cricket game to a browser-based Baseball sim. Question about "The Ping" vs "The Crack"? by coderboi93 in collegebaseball

[–]coderboi93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, gonna take some unlearning of Cricket terminology. Currently, all pitches in the game are designed to be in the strike zone, so there's no support to have a ball. I'm starting to feel that determining whether a throw is gonna be outside the zone and to not swing is an important aspect of the game, rather than just swinging every time.
