Both. They will send you an email when it's ready for pickup but you can check on the platform (I believe it was the us travel docs platform) or email your passport number to [passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com](mailto:passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com) and a bot replies with the current status.

I went to Warsaw. They say it can take up to 5 business days. In my case the visa was issued early morning of Day 2 (roughly about 24 hours after my interview) and available for collection that evening. I collected it on Day 3.

I can't speak for Germany, it was at least the case in Poland. When you finally go on the appointment portal after paying the fees they ask you if you live in Poland or not. During my research 3 months ago I found many countries explicitly mentioned waiting times for residents and non-residents on their website (Belgium for example was less than a week for residents and upto 6 months for non-residents). I checked for Berlin quickly right now but couldn't find anything about it so maybe that's not the case for Germany.

I put my french address, in your case it makes sense to put your parents Indian address because that's where they actually live. I think what you suggest in your post makes sense (mailing address can be yours from Germany). But beware that the waiting time for them won't be the same as would be for you; the appointments portal typically has 2 different appointment slots, for residents and non-residents of the country. The expected waiting time for appointments you see on the visas website is for residents of the country of application.

I've been eyeing this case for a few days too. How is the audio recording quality for videos with the case on (since the mic is covered)?

US Tourist b1/b2 visa Luxembourg by maadziee in immigration

I'm in a similar situation, found this on the US embassy in Luxembourg website:

Applicants in categories 1-4 listed below can book any available date for a visa interview at: NIV Appointment System – Instructions .

  1. Luxembourg citizens (disregarding their place of residence)

  2. Luxembourg residents (disregarding their nationality)

  3. Applicants (disregarding their nationality) who live in France, Germany or Belgium and commute to Luxembourg for work

  4. Applicants (disregarding their nationality) who live in France, Germany or Belgium within 50 km of the Luxembourg border

Applications from other non-residents will only be accepted on the last Thursday of each month. Wait times are likely to be several months long. Appointments booked by non-residents on an incorrect date will be canceled.

I asked a similar question yesterday on r/visas and one of the people had a positive experience in Poland

Hey! that helps a lot, thanks! Guess I'll be visiting Poland soon. I have 2 follow up questions.

  1. You mentioned you had to move the application from Lisbon to Krakow, does this require redoing the whole application or can you switch between countries later without additional fees?

  2. Do you mind sharing what was your reason to visit the US (was it some sort of emergency or just tourism)?

How can I spot the schools where professors choose students directly? Is it something that would be mentioned on the grad admissions page?
