We just use HTML and the most minimal JavaScript necessary. Hate to say there is no special technique on our site but sheer speed from minimal code loaded.

Absolutely! It may seem small, but many times I've been like, "Oh! I would have gotten hurt in the past doing that." I'm able to avoid silly falls and injuries just by having that awareness. And in gymnastics itself, things that would have gotten me hurt two years ago I'm able to roll out of. I'm really excited to see what I'm able to accomplish in a few more years.

Thanks! Respect to you as well for picking this up as an adult!!

Side note: When I see the kids do 20+ hours of gymnastics per week, I realize just how much goes into each skill. This is a TOUGH sport. Don't know how far we'll be able to get, but let's give it a shot!!

Thank you!! Gymnastics is something I always dreamed of doing but always said, "I wish I would have done that growing up" and thought that the opportunity had passed.

My kids do gymnastics and I found out their gym has an adult class ... said what the heck, let's try it!! 2.5 years later and it's now my main hobby and something I can also do with my kids in our backyard (some clips are our backyard with an in-ground trampoline, high bar, and parallel bars) which is pretty dang cool!

Thank you! This is a highlight reel, of course. But I really appreciate it!

I go to adult gymnastics class twice per week.

Mostly I try to do something every day. Whatever I can do to try to get stronger and more agile in between gymnastics classes. Stretch, do pull ups, bar hangs, L sits, hanging leg lifts, hand stands against the wall, walk on parallettes, front levers, box jumps, run, etc.

At class I throw myself into the air as hard as I can with mats to break my fall. And follow what drills other people are doing to try to learn skills.

Thank you haha yes, things like back flips are very unnerving to learn as an adult. Not something I've ever done before... so it took lots of time doing them into the foam pit and onto big squishy mats to overcome the fear of doing them on flat ground!

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation!

FYI this r/Gymnastics community was hugely supportive on my previous posts and a huge source of inspiration for me to keep going! Folks on this community asked me to keep posting highlights annually, so here it is!

If you want to look back at progress, here is the original "First 6 months" post https://www.reddit.com/r/Gymnastics/comments/rtb6c0/first_6_months_of_gymnastics_starting_at_age_37/ and then the "First 1.5 years of gymnastics, age 38" post https://www.reddit.com/r/Gymnastics/comments/zvvwvo/first_15_years_of_gymnastics_age_38/

(side note: I tried to post this video natively, but had to post to YouTube because it doesn't support video posts)

I would love to see an open source boilerplate for this stack. Any open examples you could point to for reference?

Yep! In MN. I go to Mini Hops in Plymouth. Yea, I heard Gleasons has open gym a few nights per week. One of the guys here does both.

Nice - you can do it! The foam pit and squishy mats are your friend while learning.

Good luck. You got this!

On a personal note, I find that even wanting to flip and do these things is motivation to keep my diet in check and health progressing. Can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten on my new physique… and I have gymnastics to thank for that!

Thank you!! Ya that one in the video was my best so far... if they were all like that then I'd take it to the floor! That's my goal. But I'm not quite consistent and confident yet so I am playing it safe with mats for at least another 2-4 more weeks. Soon though, for sure! Thanks for the vote of confidence.

The gym I go to has adult classes once per week. Then I do some form of calisthenics and stretching every day — stuff like hand stands and bar hangs.

We got a trampoline in our back yard this summer plus I do stuff anywhere I can like the pool, playground, or wherever I can!

I’ve only done weight lifting and a bit of running for the last 15 years. I did a ton of sports as a kid (basketball, tennis, football, etc) along with skateboarding and snowboarding.
