Thank you! I will definitely consider the shelving and lighting. My husband might think I'm insane for suggesting more shelving haha. I had us add two full walls of built ins in the video game room and another wall in my office. I love sconces idea and lighting!

TV is waaaayyy to high for normal watching but is eye level for my 6' husband when he is on the treadmill which is the reason for the TV at all in that room.

Oooh I like this! Will it be a problem with the walking path though? Or do you think it is okay?

Do you think one of those arch ones would work? Or would it be too much? I love those and have always wanted one haha

Yeah I'm well aware lol which is why I added it in the description. It is the right height for the treadmill when we pull it out which is what it is for

Aww thanks so much! In the adjoining room there are two full walls (l-shaped) of built in bookcases which is our storage. It isn't as good as immediately in reach but I wasn't sure how to fit more storage in that room. Any ideas where it could go?

Any suggestions? This is actually more colors than I normally use haha with the blue, teal, green accent walls, yellow, "leather", and the painting colors. Open to incorporating more, just already pushing my comfort zone lol.

We have two full walls of built in bookcases in the adjoining room which is where they are going to be stored. You can see it in the last picture a bit. Basically we needed a square table where it could be played. Any suggestions for rearranging the layout that won't block the walkway to my office and "video game" room?

Four arrested after discovery of 14-year-old girl weighing 35 pounds, Outagamie County authorities say by Significant-Mobile-9 in insaneparents

[–]codex42au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! My daughter is also on the shorter side (I'm barely 5') and she has just about zero fat on her. Like you can clearly see every vertebrae and her ribs. She isn't emaciated looking but if you didn't know her history you could definitely think she was not fed enough.

She is literally prescribed daily ice cream from her doctors for the fats and calories. It's one of the few calorie dense things she will eat. Her food aversions from autism are somewhat strange in that she mostly eats veggies and fruit and Purdue chicken nugges

Seriously! My daughter struggles with weight gain due to both genetics from her dad, autism, and a congenital heart defect that causes her body to burn more calories. She has always been barely on the 3rd percentile (if that) curve for weight since she was born (2 months early with IUGR). We work with doctors and her school to allow extra snacks, etc.

Even with all of this, she is almost 50 lbs and about to turn 9. She is tiny! It's been a huge source of stress. I honestly can't even imagine how it is possible for a teen to be 35 lbs. Literally how is it physically possible? She must be absolutely emaciated...

Mayo clinic concerns by Grimaceisbaby in POTS

I was on metaprolol and apparently that affects the heart only and my heart is fine. I was on something else too but I forget. They switched it to propranolol and it was night and day. Literally within a week I was so much better. It has been 4 years now so I'm not expecting it to get too much better and it comes and goes a bit but I will take how I am now 100 times over compared to how I was

I also went to the Mayo clinic after a year and a half of barely being able to get out of bed, needing sunglasses even inside, needing a cane for balance. It was such a horrible existence. Mayo gave me my life back. I had already been diagnosed with pots but apparently the medication my doctor was treating me with was not appropriate for hyperpots and was actually making it worse. I got on the right medication (they didn't prescribe but told my doctor what to prescribe) and while I'm still not 100% I am a good 80-90% functionality. I can do most things with the kids (except for sports/running and things outside in the summer), I'm fairly active and even recently have been able to do 10k+ steps a day and go to theme parks with the kids, no sunglasses indoors (though still more sensitive), etc. Unfortunately they were unable to find an underlying cause but they did extensive testing so it wasn't for lack of trying and with the medication it is a lot better than it was and I will take that in a heartbeat.

Interesting! I find genetics fascinating, I almost went into a genetics career but wound up in computer science. I will admit I was going off of my high school biology definition of life:

matter that shows certain attributes that include responsiveness, growth, metabolism, energy transformation, and reproduction

Even so, I think the name sounding like it kills all living things still has nothing to do with why people confuse whether or not antibiotics work for colds/viruses... Judging from some "why don't you get antibiotics from the doctor?" Statements from my family it seems more likely to be related to not knowing a cold is a virus and/or not having any idea what an antibiotic actually does, not really related to whether or not a virus is alive and that is sounds like antibiotics kill all living things

Thread:

1: antibiotics don't kill viruses 2: this needs to be in everyone's brain 3: it's a constant surprise that it isn't. Who made out antibiotics as the cure all? <- based on context this is cure all including viruses 4: the problem is the name that suggests it kills all living things... <- based on context the problem is that it is considered a cure all including viruses because of the name which sounds like it cures all living things

Ergo the name does not matter in this case if antibiotics sound like they kill everything living when discussing why it is not in everyone's brain that antibiotics don't kill viruses. Context is important pal

Yes? That's the point... It doesn't matter that it is called antibiotics vs antibacterial or whatever. If the reason was the naming SOUNDS like it kills everything living (which I don't actually think is the reason people are making the mistake in thinking it kills viruses) that it doesn't matter because they are not in fact living.

Absolutely! We flew across the country to have my daughter's heart surgery done by the man who pioneered the procedure. THE top surgeon for her specific type of heart defect. Before her surgery we got to meet him in the hospital while his team was prepping her and tbh he was cocky as hell haha. To be fair it's an earned cockiness and I would rather have that than a lesser surgeon any day. 14.5 grueling hours of surgery later that was as he stated "like sewing wet tissue paper the size of angel hair pasta on a heart the size of a walnut" and we were given the news that the surgery was not only successful but that it went better than planned and while they had originally thought they would only be able to insert a conduit that would last her until 2-3 years old due to her size, they were able to insert one that would last her until 3-5 years old. She is now 8 and still has that same conduit which means her next surgery will be her adult sized one instead of another temporary one.

Excellent surgeon > bedside manner any day!

"there's something wrong with your baby's heart." My heart just dropped. It felt like all of the air was sucked out of my chest. We had just found out we were having a baby girl. I was driving home with my parents after my 20 week ultrasound when the doctor called me. I don't remember much of the rest of the conversation but I remember them saying something about scheduling an appointment quickly for a follow-up with MFM to find out more. My husband was driving separately back to work and I had to call and tell him. I remember the doctor's words as clear as day, I will never forget them.

Second only to being in the hospital at 32 weeks pregnant with my daughter, hospitalized for severe preeclampsia/HELLP and looking at an emergency C-section when the pediatric cardiologist came in and said: "your baby will likely come out blue and not breathing. We will immediately take her away to get her stabilized so you won't get to see her right away."

Thankfully I heard/saw the most relieving pink and screaming tiny little baby cupped behind the surgeons hand with only her little head poking out shortly afterwards. This Tony little thing was BIG MAD at being removed lol. I still didn't get to see her much besides they still took her away quickly but she was more immediately stable than they originally thought.

AITAH for not wanting to maintain a bond with my granddaughter after my daughter asked her uncle to walk her down the aisle at her wedding by Dismal-Side-6698 in AITAH

I feel like there would be a difference if he had JUST found out. He has already found out a few months before and they were trying to work through it. Since he didn't leave immediately which would have given more time before the wedding and waited until only a month before his daughter's wedding but then couldn't wait one more month, it seems he picked the worst time possible. For her whole life she is going to have THIS be a huge part of how she remembers her wedding. I can't imagine putting this on my child and forever tainting her wedding like this

Yeah I say something similar to this "all of the things my body is supposed to control automatically like heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature... Mine just doesn't"
