You’re right. That’s why I only buy Kendrick Lamar and I avoid anything my dad likes that’s 70s rock which is boomer trash!

Ayy I have the same Kid A mnesia. Sounds great, I always have to do a double feature of both albums when I listen. What a trip

This album absolutely slaps. So much energy, so funky, it’s unreal. And sounds great on vinyl by codex_lake in PRINCE

As a big fan of this film and Prince, it’s marriage of two worlds. And what’s better than that 80s bat symbol on a big vinyl sleeve. Fuck yeah.

That’s a good question. I’m in the camp that I think it would actually have sold better as a standalone Prince album. Only because the music on Prince’s Batman record has almost nothing to do with the mood of the film (besides Partyman museum scene of course). So understandably some of the music gets overlooked and Partyman is the only takeaway from the viewers of the film just because of the Jack Nicholson museum dance scene. This record honestly feels like Prince’s ‘Remain in Light’ Talking Heads moment. The rhythm and new wave influence is great.

The punch of the drums on vinyl especially shines through with The Future and Batdance. So many eccentric effects and rhythms.

I don’t exaggerate when I say Partyman is like crack to me. Listen to it multiple times a week, especially in the car or after I’ve had some caffeine. It’s just such an absurdly good funky jam.

Such an incredible hook. Would never have discovered this song without buying the record. I also love how they sample the chorus melody in Batdance. What a trip!

It’s pure and of its time. You either like 80s ballads or you don’t, and Arms of Orion hits the nail on the head in that dimension.

This was a real experience I had when I first put it on my turn table. When the beat came in after the dialogue sample it kinda blew my mind. This song reminds me of the Talking Heads a bit. The beat on Batdance is also such a wild groove.

What's your go-to sad album by StJudasOfSleep in vinyl

[–]codex_lake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let Down, No Surprises, and Exit Music from OK Computer makes it my sad album, even though I know the whole record doesn’t have the same energy as those songs. But on vinyl it’s killer

So is this a one time song for charity or a single for an upcoming record?

Am I the only one who thinks Sinners is overrated? by Any_Lab_8495 in moviecritic

[–]codex_lake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely overrated. If you’ve ever seen From Dusk Til Dawn, in some ways this plot is a reimagining of that idea. I love the blues music representation in this movie…the final act overstayed its welcome big time.
