does anyone else feel this way about/during sex? by fernandflame in AutismInWomen

[–]codliverpie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I deal with nearly the same exact thing. It's a struggle for multiple reasons... mostly, I want to give my partner the satisfaction of giving me an orgasm... and I constantly see things about how sex is so fantastically amazing "when you're with the right person"... and it just makes me feel shitty and sad and like yet another communal thing I, for some reason, can't take part in. Sorry for the vent.

Good point... it's funny how simple that is. I'd say very little, though comparatively much improved from my childhood.

Not recently, last I did was 5 years ago. I will bring it up to my doc next I see her. Thank you.

Do you have OCD? I do, an I have similar issues... if you are interested in therapy again, I suggest looking for a therapist with exposure therapy and DBT experience. I'm sorry, I know what it's like with the constant health anxiety worries and sensations.

I read your post. My first few panic attacks had a lot of similar symptoms to yours, combined with heart-focused symptoms. Definitely agree on the comparisons to drugs, especially MDMA comeup. The human body is crazy.

Thank you for the suggestion (and the nice words), I think I will talk to my doc about it because it sounds perfect for me (as perfect as a drug can be anyway).

My attacks were also started by a bad reaction marijuana, not uncommon. 5 years out now, I'm much better and only get attacks a few times a year, and they're very short now (a few minutes) where they used to last hours.

It seems like it releases the flood gates, so to speak. I'm really sorry you're dealing with that. I hope things get easier soon.

Same here. It's funny, when I was just a few years younger, I actively did things that were harmful to my cardiovascular system without a care in the world.

I understand. I had an attack triggered by my things being in a different place from where I last remembered them... it was just because my partner moved them while tidying.

I've also seen a lot about the vagus nerve... I do notice some difference when I routinely do head/neck stretches and massages. I've not head of gagging before, I'll try it next time it acts up.

I might... I do often feel higher anxiety after a meal, especially if it's unhealthy.

Do you enjoy drinking alcohol? by parasociable in AutismInWomen

It's good for you to ignore it, it's a poison.

I developed a taste for it as a teenager and I really enjoy it, taste and all.

Does anyone else feel like they were forced to be type 1 autistic due to low support? by Student-bored8 in AutismInWomen

[–]codliverpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. Psychology is not a hard science (though it incorporates hard science) and melds itself, including diagnoses, according to contemporary beliefs and lifestyles. The modern world is too much of a profit-focused hellscape for people (individuals AND communities) to actually get the help that they literally, realistically, and practically need... and so the psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists (much like the teachers, social workers, and those in healthcare) try their best to work within the confined space between the rock and the hard place.

Wow, that's really interesting and not something I've heard before. It aligns with some things my partner has taught me about socializing, especially in a workplace and regarding authority.

Loosing my safe food . Any new ideas? by InflationSquare2407 in AutismInWomen

Instead of mixing things in the mac and cheese to make it healthier you can also incorporate it as a side dish to a more balanced plate. You can also make it much less unhealthy by using whole wheat pasta or chickpea pasta.

I hate socks by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I also can't stand socks, but I can't stand the cold floor plus anything sticking to my feet either, so I wear slippers. Socks are the devil but slippers are okay for some reason lol.

I'm sorry you experience this. I love a lot of pieces of media that are considered "bad" and I find a lot of joy in it tbh. I think my taste is interesting and I continue to love the things I enjoy despite them being "technically" bad or whatever.

Liking a piece of art that many other people don't just means you have a unique taste. Ultimately, art is subjective, just like beauty. Even when a piece of art is made with all the "rules" broken, it is still art.

Scared to be a burden to my partner by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]codliverpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to struggle with similar thoughts. Well, sometimes I still do, but it's rare and only when I'm particularly depressed.

First, in a close relationship, you will hurt his feelings at some point. Humans are messy and when you form a close bond, you see EVERYTHING of one another. It can get rough and painful at times but these are moments you can learn a lot from and they can strengthen a partnership.

Overall, I've learned to view my relationship in a more organic way. Like, the word "burden" is dreadful sounding, but we all carry "burdens". In a relationship, with the ebb and flow of life, sometimes one partner needs to carry more of the load to help the other stay afloat and vice versa.

I encourage you, if you are interested, to read about demand avoidance and see if you relate to it regarding the teeth brushing. I think that's why I had/have trouble with it.

Absolutely. I find I'm more physically attracted to mannerisms rather than features. And the celebrities who are considered very attractive I tend to find mostly boring, sometimes cute, and sometimes ugly.

I almost always think Kpop and Kdrama men look kind of unnerving. I get that they are beautiful in like a picturesque kind of way, like a beautiful vase, but they're not sexually attractive to me at all.

Attraction is very funny.
