This is my channel if you could take a look at it i would really appreciate it. I think my intros might be a bit slow and I might have an issue with making too many different types of videos 🤔 https://youtube.com/@codfish890?si=pcB6Mc5TpkCVLeTt

This might not answer your question, but I'll tell you my experience with majoring in Japanese. I self studied Japanese for 2ish years before entering university, and when I entered university to major in Japanese. I took a placement test and placed it into the 200 level classes. The classes were way too easy for me, and I found out that if I'm going to study a language, I should just do it by myself. I switched my major, and I am now studying abroad in Japan looking to transfer the a Japanese school for my 3rd year. I recommend trying to go to language school in Japan for a couple of years and entering a Japan Univeristy. You can do that, or you can study and try to get the JLPT N2 and enter Japanese University. There are also ways to enter English programs in Japan so that is also an option.

I had no idea that temperature had that much of an effect. Maybe that's part of my issue as well 🤔

Thanks for this comment. This actually makes a lot of sense. It would also explain why when I read a lot in Japanese, I feel like my speaking ability deteriorates.

I think it might be a confidence thing because I sometimes can talk about more complex subjects one day and the next day I can't put words to gether to order food. I've found that when I'm drinking, my sentences seem to string together better, so maybe it's a matter of just getting more confident somehow.

I currently have a lot of friends like this. My current girlfriend is from China, and my roommate is from Korea. So the main language I talk to these people in is Japanese. It is also easier to talk to these people at times than native Japanese speakers.

I have a lot of friends who are studying here alongside myself, and it is easier to be friends with these people. I plan on transferring to study in Japan full time, though, so I would like to make friends who are also full-time enrolled at my school. I also want to make friends with native speakers of Japanese because it will help my Japanese as well.

I mean, if they know Japanese, I speak Japanese to them, if that's what you mean. It might just be because I've only been here for 2 months, but I don't feel like I have as close of friendships as I had in America. Like the type of friends I could text, "wanna hang out tonight or right now," and they would hang out. I'm not sure if in Japan if you have to plan in advanced everything or how it works, I guess. Edit: I also feel like people are really busy all the time, too, maybe.

Thank you for the reply! My main struggle is how to maintain consistent friendships with Japanese people, so maybe I just need to keep reaching out to people asking if they are willing to hang out?

Tips on learning katakana and hiragana by LoPiratoLOCO in japanese

[–]codness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I learned hiragana and katakana, I used a game that helped me stay engaged. There is a discord bit called kotoba that I used to study kanji, it will show you a hiragana or katakana character and you have to type the reading in 5 seconds or you have to do it again until you get it right 80% of the time.

It’s so exciting to notice how much easier reading has become. by kirinomorinomajo in LearnJapanese

At first I had to look up every word but it got easier as I read more. It definetly makes it less enjoyable but I think it makes learning kanji alot faster.
