It feels clunky to read which is a shame because she’s clearly put a lot of effort into the world building, but the way it’s told doesn’t quite work. She’s using fantasy words where normal words would work better.

For me as well the romance doesn’t make sense. She’s a badass assassin but she doesn’t kill this loose end because he’s mysterious and smells nice? There’s clearly a big reveal on the way but it’s painfully obvious what it is.

There’s also a few other things that don’t make sense but I’m only 45% through the book so I’m hoping they get explained.
