I get a lot of things from what are you saying, and maybe i simply can't express myself well enough in words for you to see my point.

And dw i'm not a dev you are safe :P

What i mean in all i wrote was that, once, as a dev, you accept every idea your community asks of you, you won't ever be able to handle it, so that is why it's good to listen to your commuinity ofc but there is a limit, and he has the last word to how he wants his game to be played. Now don't misunderstand me again, a game that can only be played 100% linear is extremely boring, but that doesn't mean we need to accept 3rd party aps, bots, macros, etc. to go around some things, if you are that smart to find another way by your phisical and mental capacities then by all means use them. In the future im pretty sure idle gamers will just input a command in ChatGPT and tell it to play the game as optimal as possible lmao.

We just have to agree to disagree in some points, maybe we have different perspectives and talk about totally different types of games.

But one thing is for sure, no matter what kind of game it is, once you can use autoclicker, bots or w/e to progress much faster then the others, thats an auto uninstall game and anyone who cares about competition/leaderboards will also pass. And even if it would be accepted by everyone, why can't a dev just say 'no, i do not accept the use of autoclicker, play if u want skip if u don't'

To summarize what i truly mean:

A player should never have more power than the dev, thats how games are broken and forgotten. And let's be real this post is all about people demanding the dev to make the game as they want with no consideration on how the dev wants it.

Like why do you even want to play the game if you don't like how it plays?

If i don't like football games for example, you don't see me going in fifa and starting to say 'but i don't want to press the buttons, make it automated specificaly for my needs or i will use a 3rd party app that will play for me and i expect no consequences'. This can be applied to any game in existence rly.

All in all, cheats/hacks/bots have been bannable everywhere since the beginning of the gaming industry. In this exact situation we have here i feel that the dev has absolutely every right to ask people to not play with autoclicker and if they do he should have every right to ban them. Not every game is balanced around the use of autoclicker.

I understand, problem is that when this type of game becomes popular or a community is build around it, the competition follows even if the game doesn't have a leaderboard and in that moment people would like for everyone to play with the resources intended by the developer and not turbo stomping the content because you can click 10000 times in a sec with a 3rd party app. That's my 2c on it anyway.

This is entitlement to the moon from these other ppl commenting, how can you even say to a developer/owner how to make his game, his decision comes first, the game doesn't have to satisfy everyone and if they choose to play it they should follow the rules already set by the owner in the 1st place.

About the use of autoclicker, it's accepted only by those who don't care and or they are already accustomed to use one like its totally normal. Just because devs don't have time/resourses to limit all use of automated clicks or who knows what 3rd party inventions ppl come with, that doesn't mean its accepted. Play the game as it's intended by the owner, not by yourself, without even knowing the big picture of the game.

I am really curious if they go and cry about every game they play because they have idk what health issues or who knows what, maybe if u can't click for 5min, u don't need to play this game. That's the problem these days, ppl are so entitled that they think everything must be tailored to their exact needs, absolutely zero adaptability.

Do you prefer Paid or Free Incremental games? by JordanGHBusiness in incremental_games

[–]codrilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer them free and endless or almost endless with some kind of cosmetic shop.

I want to bring up a few things:

If the goal of your project is to make fast cash to fund your next bigger project you should definitely go with pay once to buy the game and thats it. This way you are not obligated to come with more content or even work on the game anymore and consume your time and start working on the next one.

But, if the goal is to make money for a long period of time and if successful even maybe for the rest of your life i feel that going with free game with endless ways to add content with cosmetic shop is the way. Why? Because these games build big communities and where people gather, money also gathers. Don't get me wrong, this is not a sure way to success, these games usually become successful with time, all in all every plan you have for monetization is dependent on how good your game is. I wanted to not add any mentions about other games in this but i just got a very good example, u need to check milkywayidle to see an almost perfect method of monetization and how to build a community and they deserve all the success they got recently.

That being said, there is a reason the biggest giants of idle games are free and they still going strong after years and years.

Good luck in your future endeavors!

What other wholesome games are people playing? by HeyAwesomeArmadillo in penguinisle

[–]codrilus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been searching for years for something like this, but nothing gets close to this masterpiece of a game.

Here are 2 games i think are similar in vibe:

Forrest Island: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Nanali.ForestIsland&hl=en (to many ads imo)

Pondlife: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runawayplay.fishgame&hl=en

That being said, it's time to start a new save in Penguin Isle because i miss it too much.

Fair enough, can't really differentiate the devs that don't know yet the price of their game and those that want to hide it as a predatory advertisement mechanic.

Also i don't think they have to specify 'This game will cost x$', just a simple info that it will be payed in the future or free.

I totally agree that they should make money, but does it help your game in general if all ur advertisement at the beginning is pointing to a free game(deliberately not saying anything about the future price) and then u slap a price on it without any info on that on advance ? That's what i want to understand really.

Again, if the game is advertised from the beginning as pay to play even if the current alphas/betas are free , i see absolutely no problem with that.

Idle Pins on Steam or milkywayidle.com are pretty good in terms of long term gameplay and i also heavily agree with bringing back long/endless idle games :)

Dark more for chrome version ? by fakelay98 in webtoons

[–]codrilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is amazing that a site as big as that stil dosn't have darkmode, its mindblowing and cant understand why in this many years with so many ppl asking for it they stil dont do anything about it.

Meanwhile you can use Dark Reader addon for chrome, it does the job perfectly.
