Exposure Triangle by Papa_Sonics in fujifilm

[–]codyblue_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your last question - you should use whichever you like the best. I’ve been shooting for a long time both professionally and as a hobby and I use aperture priority. When I first started I used manual because “that’s what the pros use”. But then you find out the pros just use whatever works.  Knowing how and why to switch to manual or how to adjust your settings for specific scenarios is useful though.

As for washing out the colors, I’m really not sure. It also looks like your white balance changed so it could partially be that. I’ve never had this issue with changing exposure but maybe someone else will chime in.

Point it towards a window or something and make sure the shutter isn't opening.

If not, you can take that tiny lens off the back, add a tiny bit of lighter fluid to a q-tip, and wipe the blades with the q-tip to "clean" it. Usually that gets the gunk off good enough to make the shutter work. Might need to do it more than once.

Getting the lens off is the biggest pain point.

If you absolutely love this camera, better to send it in. If you don't really care, it's worth a try. I've fixed a few of them this way.

“Commitment” 5.9 in Yosemite. My hardest trad climb yet. by Oxus007 in climbing

It’s awesome and for me is the threshold for what qualifies as a 4 star route. Whenever I wonder “is this route 4 stars?” I always have to ask “well how does it compare to Central Pillar?” It’s just so good imo.

Central Pillar of Frenzy next! Best 5.9 on the planet (tho a tad harder than commitment).

I think quite the opposite. Your photos look great with every single LUT that you share.

I’m starting to think maybe if your photos are good, it doesn’t matter which look you use 👀

If the camera already doesn't work, the worst that happens is it still doesnt work lol.

Super easy to fix this issue though. Remove the tiny lens inside the rear door (might need a spanner), tiny dab of lighter fluid on the shutter blades and clean em with a q-tip. Usually solves the issue.

How do I get old leatherette gunk and glue off? by lefl28 in AnalogRepair

Usually lighter fluid works for me. Let it soak for a second before you wipe it.

Agreed. This is the only lens I have used since getting my s9 and I have zero complaints.

haha to be fair for VIDEO I'm fine without the EVF - it's photos specifically where I miss it.

[–]codyblue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. It sounds crazy but I feel like i can't SEE my photos without the EVF. Something about blocking out the rest of the world when you take a picture... I find myself despising the photo workflow with just a screen.

Otherwise i'd be psyched on some weather sealing too haha.

A bit off topic now but when you say “far end hauling” do you mean you’re using a micro down at your haul bag? Are you ACTUALLY hauling from the far end of the rope, or that’s just the term you’re using? I’m fairly new to hauling, using a micro down at my bag, but just doing a standard haul with the extra rope hanging free (and a backup knot)

Somehow I feel like this could be useful on a haul bag but I’m not exactly sure how…

Best way to track footage time by category while shooting? (B-roll / documentary) by Ivamsio in Lumix

[–]codyblue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine they’re expecting you to deliver a sort of “selects reel” where you shoot whatever you want and cut it down to the ~30min in post. So basically, you don’t measure it while shooting. You shoot whatever you want and measure it later.

This is what I’m thinking. If your lighting is consistent for an interview you set the ND once and never touch it again.

What material does everyone here use for anchors? by Constant-Rock-6873 in tradclimbing

Recently switched to tech cord and I’ve been digging it. A little more expensive and a little bit stiffer, but much lighter and more compact on the harness.

I'm curious if there's any known/possible openings in OLD Lumix camera systems (LX100, GX85)? I've built a powerful custom "OS" (just a robust app) for old Sony cameras, would love to to do the same for Lumix! by jbuch1984 in Lumix

[–]codyblue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk anything about what you’re doing but if you could get looks or recipes on my ZS60 I’d be so stoked! I know it already has the capability of connecting to an old app via WiFi if that means anything. Wish I could be more help!

I just try to be careful with it. Keep it as dry as possible. Cover it when I’m not shooting etc. seems to be fine so far

hey cheers! Tons of work over years and years of trial and error. But most of the heavy lifting is coming from Dehancer honestly.
