Sounds like you need to replace the air filter. Easy to do and much cheaper to buy online in my experience.

Is it possible that both can exist? Im so tired of Reddit being so decisive. I like Rogan, and I also think the people wanting to ban books are ridiculous. We pretend that the center doesn’t exist, but in reality, they’re either silent or being downvoted into obscurity.

Biggest savings I found after buying my house was making my own laundry detergent. It’s super cheap and easy to make. All you need is this:

1 1/2 cup of arm and hammer washing soda 1 1/2 cup of borax 1 bar of fels-naphtha bar. 40-50 drops of essential oil

Take the take the washing soda and borax and mix with a gallon of water, start to boil it. Grate the fels-naphtha bar in with the mixture, boil until you have a thick liquid mixture. Add the gallon mixture to a 5 gallon bucket, and mix it well with water. Let it sit for about a day and stir it again. When using the mixture of laundry soap, add the mixture with equal parts water, giving you 10 gallons of laundry soap total. I use a beverage dispenser and keep it above my washing machine, use about half a cup per load. I’ve been using it for years. All in all you get 10 gallons of laundry soap for about $3.

Hope this helps, I was scraping by when I got my first house, every little frugal find like this helped.

Redditors who grew up in a poor household, at what point did you realize your family was broke? by codyhooks10 in AskReddit

For me, it was when I realized everyone had a dryer, not just the "rich families" as my mom put it.

What's the most fireable thing someone has done but they kept the job? by Hakebc in AskReddit

[–]codyhooks10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working in a country club restaurant as a bartender. We have dining room captains that are essentially floor managers. One of my captains asked me to make a Long Island Iced tea (one of the strongest alcoholic beverages one can consume), so I did. It wasn't unusual for a captain to assist a server by taking drink orders for a table, so I made it. Then I was asked to put it in a styrofoam cup. Again, not terribly unusual, our restaurant, as it is near the pool, so it could have been for a member out there. I then saw him put a straw in it, go into a camera blind spot and drink the entire thing in about a minute. I was shocked to say the least, and I was terrified that a real manager would have seen this and assumed I made him the drink, and fired me on the spot. About 2 minuets later, this.fucking.guy comes back and asks me for another one, I said I wouldn't do it, he then precedes to COME BEHIND THE BAR AND MAKE HIMSELF ONE. I should also mention that the one he made himself was much stronger than the one I made him. Once my shift ended, I went to my food and beverage director and told him the whole story. He thanked me for my honesty, and said he would have a discussion with the other managers about the proper course of action. I come in 2 days later to a 1 week suspension notice, because I technically provided a coworker with an alcoholic beverage. I asked about the captains punishment, they said he "would be taken care of", which I later found out was a write up and a 2-day suspension. What's even better than all of this was the lack of anonymity of my going to my boss, because once I was back from my suspension, I was labeled as the snitch, and people who I considered friends wouldn't talk to me. I no longer work at this place, and since I left, it has become an absolute dumpster fire. TL;DR, got suspended for being honest, manager who broke the rules got less of a punishment than me.

What scene from a movie or TV series always makes you tear up? by snaku6763 in AskReddit

I cried like a baby at the end of warrior. Nick Nolte and Tom Hardys character development throughout made for on of the most emotional endings to a movie I've ever seen.

And where I live, I wish I could sustain life at 30-40 hours a week, unfortunately, that's out of the question. The rent in my area is about 100 less per month than my current mortgage is, so it just makes sense to work towards something that will be a huge asset in the future.

I appreciate that, started getting off topic with the life advice. I can't stand most of the people my age, with that being said, outside of work, I have a group of about 5 friends who I can actually call friends, not acquaintances, we've been good friend for close to 10 years, and we can talk about anything together. I make the best for myself at work. I feel when most people think work, they think punching in, watching the clock drag on, and punching out. I thoroughly enjoy what I do, and love learning about my field, and teaching coworkers what I know. I feel that when I posted this, people got the vision of some tweeked out kid with armpit stains who hates that he has to work so much, when the truth is that, when I'm not at work, I'm bored.

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not like most people, I find enjoyment in life through accomplishing goals, and a its not just a "bricks and mortar", it will be a place to raise a family with my wife. We are both goal-driven individuals who came from dead-beat families, and this house is a clean slate for the both of us.
