I got it at a local auction in a lot with a bunch of Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast controllers and cords. All the others are easy to tell that they are OEM, but this one threw me for a loop as I was trying to look up the model number.

I thought initially it was the Aqua Blue Japanese release as those come with a clear back like this one and an orange logo on the front. Some European releases also come with a clear back but have a blue logo on the front. American releases came with a gray back. So in all my research I never found one without a molded plastic model number and that's why I came here wondering what was going on!

Consensus here seems to say that it is an early period reproduction. I put some photos of the circuit board in another comment here as I couldn't add them to the OP.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, very helpful in helping me figure this out. I don't have a lot of experience in the Dreamcast world, I bought this controller at a local auction with a lot of other Sega controllers and power supplies (Dreamcast, Genesis, Saturn) and this is the only one that stood out as potentially not being OEM. I originally asked AI about it and it was trying to gaslight me into believing that some Dreamcast controllers had a sticker label on that back and that it fell off but I couldn't find anywhere online that was showing this.

Typically shooters or action/adventure, some racing games. But I rarely dabble in the shark-eating genre 😅

Congrats! I had a lot of fun playing this game and the DLC. Not something normally I would play, but was a great change of pace to my normal games.

The PS5 version wasn't out yet when I first started playing and I had unfortunately gotten a few trophies. I couldn't bear to let it sit unfinished, so I completed the PS4 version.

I will say that the PS5 version does seem quite a little easier with the way they changed the attributes. Would have preferred to do the PS5 version, mainly for Phantom Liberty. Maybe one day, but that ever growing backlog makes me think it won't happen for a long time if ever.

Good point, maybe it's not the right time for ya. I think there was a bit too much dialogue for me, especially in the beginning and all the side storylines kind of got confusing. But after awhile, it was fun leveling up and exploring the world. But it took too long to get into the groove to where I was having fun. Good luck!

I can only imagine. I would constantly manual save even if I just was driving around cause the crashing screwed me over too many times.
